Introduction

This was Sony's flagship set (prior to the G90 being released) introduced in 1995. Razor sharp performance with full 9” liquid coupled tubes with EM focus, 110 Khz scan rate, 1000 lumens, 21 point digital convergence.  The basic image was very similar to the 12XX series, but the larger tubes and EM focus made for a razor sharp picture.

Very large and heavy beasts, they're known for being one of the noisiest projectors out there so consider a hushbox or louder speakers. :)

To see how this projector ranks in relation to other projectors for use in a home theater environment see the Projector Rankings page.

For full specifications on this and other projectors, see the Projector Specifications page.

For an overview and history of Sony see the CRT Primer.

See the Advanced Procedures page for various DIY instructions on maintaining and improving CRT projectors.
