Setup DVDs


 



Regardless of the type of projector you end up purchasing (be it CRT, LCD, DLP, or another), to get the most out of your setup it is recommended that you use one of the various setup DVDs available through most major retailers to calibrate both your video signal chain correctly. 

Most of the better setup DVDs help you optimize both your both audio and video and have on-screen instructions that explain the process to you step by step.

Note: To properly set up the audio portion of your home theater, most of these setup DVDs require a sound pressure meter.  Radio Shack sells an inexpensive analog one that works very well.

Below are two that are recommend the most.  Both work well, but Avia has a few more test patterns and is (IMHO) a lot more user friendly.
