HT VIDEO & ACCESSORIES (THE BEST OF SHOW - to me)

I’ve saved the best display (to me) for the end, because I only saw it at the end of the second day that I was at CES. This shows huge potential, even though it’s only in the prototyping stage right now. I walked by this Samsung 50” DLP, and realized that I didn’t see any rainbows on this screen. I then saw the sign that this DLP was driven by LEDs instead of a bulb. I then saw the sign that stated 100,000:1 contrast ratio. OK, I was intrigued! Luckily I found a sales rep that was somewhat technical, and he told me that the reason for the lack of rainbows (only 1% of people can see rainbows on this LED DLP) that the LEDs are being strobed in sync with the internal color wheel. This greatly reduces rainbows, and the pulsing of the LEDs also takes the contrast ratio way up. While I didn’t view the unit in a critical environment, to me it was the best of show as far as display devices go. The only catch right now? The $70,000 price tag attached to this unit!
