This unique RGB to
Component (YPbPr) Converter provides a picture
perfect component conversion optimized for HD‑ready
displays for full high‑definition viewing. It allows
you to view high‑definition (HD) content from RGB
sources on your existing projector or HD‑ready TV.
The perfect match for the HDfury!
Simply plug the HDfury directly into the
Box1020's RGB IN port and your display to the Box1020's RGB
OUT or COMPONENT OUT port! You can now use Blu-ray and other HDMI
devices through your TV's component inputs! How does the Box1020 make the HDfury better?
-
The Box1020 allows you to use the HDfury on TV's that only
have component inputs!
-
Adjustable Gamma Boost: The Box1020 adds gamma adjustment to
the HDfury signal for absolutely perfect shadow detail.
-
The World's first Image Alignment Correction (IAC) circuitry
to fix the image "left-shift" error.
-
The Box1020's cable driver stage lets you use an analog
output cable of any length with the HDfury. You no longer need to place the
HDfury near your TV! Perfect for those of you that
already have a long RGBHV cables installed.
The RGB signal is converted to the component (YPbPr) or passed
through in RGB with virtually no degradation in quality. It works with the
HDfury or any
source that has an RGB output.
Box1020 is plug-n-play with no extra steps required. It can be used for all
standard High-definition TV formats: 1080p, 1080i, 720p. All standard frame
rates are supported. Low-level Black Boost operates in both RGB and Component
outputs.
This converter has a full dynamic range for maximum details in
the picture for all input modes. The converter introduces no missing black
levels in the output (no black crush) or washed-out whites.
Box1020 connects to your display in one of two ways:
-
For component (YPbPr) displays: Through a standard 3-RCA-RCA
cable
-
For RGB displays: Through a 15-pin D-Sub VGA connector or
through a VGA-5BNC break-out cable. Horizontal and Vertical sync information is
present in the VGA connector
Both displays can be connected at the same time.

Q: I have an oldish but little used
Sony
VPH-D50HTM CRT projector. I want to now use it
for UK SkyHD. The UK skyHD box outputs both
component analog (no HDCP) and HDMI (with HDCP) at
720p or 1080i at 50Hz. Can I use the
HDFury combined with a VGA to RGBHV lead to feed
this unit using also the
RCT2200? Will the CRT accept the inputs at 50Hz?
A: I'm very familiar with the
Sony
D50. Nice
little projector with 7" tubes and ES focus. Throws
a nice picture. You should have no problems combining
the
HDFury with the
RCT2200 for use with the
Sony
D50. This is exactly what I do as well in my setup
with a
Zenith 1200 (aka Barco Cine 8 Onyx) CRT projector.
Simply connect the
HDFury to your source using
the HDMI to DVI cable that comes with the
HDFury Advanced Kit, plug the
HDFury directly into the
RCT2200 RGB passthrough port, and then use a VGA to
RGBHV cable to your projector. You'll need the
HDFury Advanced Kit which comes with a power supply
as the SkyHD box doesn't seem to output enough
current to drive the HDfury properly from what I
understand.
Another option (and what I do actually) is to use
the same
HDFury/RCT2200 combo but use the component
input of the
RCT2200 for the satellite/cable box and
the HDfury for a Blu-ray player (we recommend the
Playstation 3). This gives you the best of both worlds and is
a simple setup for watching cable/Satellite and
DVD/Blu-ray. While the SkyHD may look a little
better through HDMI instead of component, most
cable/satellite content isn't that great looking in
the first place (low bandwidth/highly compressed) so
you're not losing much if anything. As well, using
HDMI on many cable/satellite boxes will introduce
delays when switching channels as the HDMI needs to
renegotiate the HDCP copy protection each time
(which can be annoying). It's best sometimes to
simply use component for cable/satellite boxes.
The
RCT2200 autoswitches between the two inputs
(component and RGB passthrough). To watch
Blu-ray/DVD you simply turn on the Blu-ray player
and the RCT2200 will autoswitch when it senses a
signal.
Set all the sources to 1080i and it'll work great
on the
Sony
D50. 1080i/50 (50Hz) has absolutely no
problems running on the D50. In fact, the smaller
tubes in the D50 make it perfect for 1080i. Scanlines will be noticeable/distracting. On much
higher end projectors like the
Sony
G90 with sharp
9" tubes, 1080i cannot be used as the scalines get
too thin and become distracting. In that case you
need to use 1080p for everything. This can actually
be an annoyance as while you can set the Blu-ray
player to 1080p, cable/satellite is still only 1080i
meaning that you need to use scaler to take 1080i to
1080p - an added expense!
I talk a bit about 1080i vs 1080p in the Q/A
section of our latest newsletter if you're curious,
available
here.
