July 26, 2004 Here at last is a new
projector list of units and accessories for sale. For those of you new to the
mailing list, welcome! This is a private list not given to others. If you want
off this list, just shoot me a quick email back, and I'll take you of right
away. As always, all pricing is in US dollars.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
1) AOL has apparently targeted me as a spammer, as I now send out well over
5100 emails each time this list goes out. Someone has complained to AOL, and
therefore my server has requested that I get all AOL customers to email me back
'KEEP ME ON THE MAILING LIST' in the header of this email. I will then forward
it to my server, so that they have record of who ISN'T being spammed. I will end
up having to delete all AOL customers' addresses that do not email me back to
protect my email account.
2) A reminder that parts and modules that I send out are LOANER parts, and
unless specifically stated by myself, the defective parts that they replace must
be sent back to me. I repair the old boards and put them back into stock. As new
parts for these projectors are insanely expensive, I must get the old boards
back. I've had many people throw them out, or simply not send them back. This
reduces my loaner stock greatly, and if the trend continues, I will have to
consider simply having people send me boards for repairs. this will slow down
the turnaround. So to Darren in Calgary that has 6 BArco video boards, Rali in
Seattle that has an Ampro V board and HV power supply, and the 30 some-odd
others that are hanging onto boards, c'mon guys, please send them back!
3) I've got many new projectors in. I've also got multiples of many units,
all mainly waiting for tubes. I've got a bunch of those listed at the end of
this list.
PROJECTORS FOR SALE:
1- Sony VPH 722. This is an older entry level video only projector in decent
shape. 500 lumens from 7" Sony tubes. Analog convergence, easy to set up,
convection cooled for zero fan noise. THe tubes are in good shape, and will last
about 8000 hours +. These sets were never driven very hard, so the tubes last
almost forever. Great as a starter unit, and this set will blow away comparably
priced digitals on ebay, or set this one up for the kids to play games on so
they don't wear out the good projector in your theater!.On eBay here:

2-Panasonic PT-101Y projectors. Very similar to the Sony above, this set is a
bit brighter, and it has an S-video input on it. Similar analog convergence to
the Sony above. Two fans produce virtually no noise. Tubes are in good shape. On

$400.00 each
1- Mitsubishi VS-1200 projector. Again, similar to the other video only sets
above, with an S-video input. This came from a local private installation, from
a customer that never used it. The house got sold, and we pulled it out when the
new owner bought an HD ready unit. Analog convergence, an easy set up. Bonus:
For the extra shipping costs, you can have a second parts unit at no charge. It
fires up, and works, but the tubes are shot, and the case is in bad shape. With
ceiling bracket, original Mits switcher unit as well. On eBay here:

5- Sony 10XX series. I've actually got 7 of these, I have not gone through
two of them yet. These sets are excellent beyond-starter sets The 1030 and 031
sets are identical, 600 lumens, video and RGB inputs, 7" tubes, etc. The only
difference is that the 1030 scans to 32 Khz, good for line doubling, and the
1031 is good to 46 Khz, good for line doubling and HDTV. THe sets' condition is
as listed below. The cases are in good shape, minor scratches here and there,
nothing serious. I've got foam lined road cases that I'll send these in, but the
cases will need to be sent back.

servicing down the road, digital convergence, very easy to set up. Excellent

of these with excellent results. I do about 12 component modifications to these
for long term reliability.
$800.00 each.
2- Sony 12XX series sets. Sony's answer to the Barco 800 series, they use the
same tubes and lenses for a similarly speced picture. Modular construction, very
reliable. A bit smaller and a touch noisier than the Barcos. 650 lumens, 8"
tubes, video, S-video and RGB inputs. A second RGB card may be added as an
option, I've got lots of stock of the secondary RGB boards for these sets. The
1271 has tubes good for 7K hours +, and scans to 90Khz, with 21 point
convergence. THe 1251 scans to 61 Khz, and has 9 point convergence. THe tubes

3 Runco DTV 852. I've got 3 left of these. great little sets that are dead
quiet. Runco sold these for about $15K from 1996 to 1999. 50 Khz scan rate, 800
lumens from 7" Zenith tubes. Built in line doubler, so that all regular video
and S-video signals get upscaled to 480p. RGB inputs for bypassing the internal
line doubler for HDTV use. Wireless remote control, on screen menus, digital
convergence. Very reliable units, great for someone wanting high performance
without messing with external doubler, switchers and scalers. Two have new G and
B tubes (not rebuilt) with zero wear, one has a bit of green wear, still good
for 8K hours. Listed on eBay here:

footprint, I've replaced all tubes with VDC ones. The image is excellent. Video,
S-video, RGB and component inputs. 64 Khz scan rate make the set good for up to
line quadrupling, and all formats of HDTV. Wireless remote included. ON screen
menus, digital convergence, easy to set up.Color corrected lenses. On eBay here:

1- Runco DTV 947. This is an excellent set, based on the Barco 708 chassis.
Right about 1000 hours on the original chassis and tubes. 1000 lumens from 7
1/2" Toshiba tubes, video, S-video, RGB and component inputs. Made in 2000! The
set case and electronic condition is in excellent shape. Very small and compact,
and QUIET. Digital convergence, on screen menus, very easy to set up. An
excellent image, and one of the most recent vintage projectors I've had in. Not
on ebay yet, here's your chance to grab it before I list it.
$2900.00
1- Barco 1100. This is a 9" LC set based on the Barco 800 chassis. 1200
lumens from Sony 9" tubes, 58 Khz scan rate, video, S-video and RGB inputs. Only
3585 hours on the chassis, tubes are in excellent shape. Digital convergence, on
screen menus, wireless remote included. All mods have been done as per the Barco
800 chassis. I have a second Barco 1100 that has only 1800 hours on it, but it
has a smashed case, operationally perfect. If someone wants both of these, I'll
make you a heck of a deal. Getting a working 9" LC set for $1500.00 is a great
deal, it gets better when you buy two.. On eBay here:

NEC PG series. I've got a slew of NEC PG series projectors, probably about 15
in all. These range from the original model NEC 6 and 9 PG at 800 lumens with
RGB inputs to the later and slightly improved 6 and 9 PG + models (slightly
higher scan rate) to the newest 6 and 9 Pg Xtra models that had additional focus
and astig adjustments and 1000 lumen tubes. All use the same case style, are
reliable and come with the wireless remote control. I can retube any of the sets
that I have in stock, most are showing some G and B tube wear. I've got a couple
in good original tube shape, others are unusable as is. The point convergence
board, optional on most of these adds 100 points of convergence fine tuning per
color. Here's what is ready to go now:
2 mint 9 PG- 800 lumens, RGB inputs, one with optional point convergence
board
$1500.00- no point convergence
$1700.00- point convergence
1- 6 Pg Xtra, 1 9 PG Xtra. Both of these have light wear on the G and B
tubes, the reds show no wear. The 9 PG Xtra has the video and S-video board
installed, the 6 Pg Xtra has neither. Both are good for about 7000 hours ot tube
life.
$1500.00- 6 Pg Xtra
$1800.00- 9 PG Xtra
I've got about 6 more Xtra sets in stock. Retubed sets with new G and B tubes
and an original red with no wear will be $2400.00 for the 6 Pg Xtra, $2800.00
for the 9 PG Xtra.
8" EM focus sets. I've lumped these all together as the specs are all very
similar. I always get asked, which is the best set, a Marquee, a Barco 808 or
1208, or an NEC XG series. The answer is always the same: Put them all in a
large room fed by the same source, and you'll see little difference between the
sets. THe NEC's have a bit more control over the focus and astig than the
others, the Marquees and BArcos are a bit easier to set up. Again, I've got
multiple sets in stock of each of these. All offer 1200 lumens, somewhere
between 75-135 Khz max scan rate, good for anything you can feed to it. 8" EM
focus tubes. Video, S-video and RGB inputs on all units. Zone and point
convergence on all models. Here's what's ready to go:
1- BArco Data 808s. All original MEC tubes, good for 7000 hours of use. c.w
IRIS auto convergence camera. Component input as well as RGB, hard to find on
most Barcos. Case in excellent shape. $2300.00
1- BArco Graphics 808s. Same as above but with Sony tubes, and the higher
scan rate of 110 Khz. c/w IRIS autoconvergence camera and component inputs on
eBay here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32862&item=5711069113
$2300.00
1- BArco 1208/2. 135 Khz scan rate. New G and B tubes, good for about 10000+
hours of use. Case in decent shape. On eBay here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32862&item=5711264445
$3500.00
1- Marquee 8500. Good original tubes. 9K hours + life left in them. 135 Khz
scan rate. all mods done for long life. On ebay here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32862&item=5711264648
$3200.00
Again, I've got multiple of almost all of the models above. With new G and B
tubes, the sets will run $3500-4000.00 depending on the exact model, contact me
if you're interested.
And last but no least:
1- Barco 1209. This is the flagship of the Barco line, 1200 lumens from 9' LC
sets. digital convergence, on screen menus. Original R and B tubes with a new
(not rebuilt) green tube. NO wear on any tubes for 10K hours + life. Video,
S-video and RGB inputs. Flawless image, razor sharp. HD-120 or HD_300 or HD-10

3- Sony 1271 switchers with built in line doublers. These were designed to
work with the Sony 12XX series of projectors, but they may also be used as
standalone switchers and a line doubler. THe line doubler module takes up 3 of
the 8 input slots and therefore has 2 video/S-video and one component input. RGB
outputs, or connect to the special 14 pin Sony cable (I have a few in stock) to
connect only one cable from the Sony switcher to the projector. Optional
additional video and RGB boards available. On eBay here:
