December 7, 2003 Here again is
another list of used projectors for sale. As always, pricing is in US dollars.
If you want off this bi-monthly list, just shoot me back an email and I'll take
you off right away. As usual, the projectors are listed more or less in
ascending price and performance.
1- Sony 1031. A good entry level projector that takes video and RGB inputs
from a line doubler or HDTV, this compact unit is very reliable and the tubes
are in good shape. Analog convergence is easy to set up. This set produces 600
lumens from the common SD-187 Sony tubes. Great as a unit that is more than just
a straight projector, connected to HDTV or a line doubler this set wil work
great on up to an 8' diagonal screen.
$500.00
1 NEC GP-3000. This set is a data grade projector from about the same vintage
as the Sony above. 600 lumens from 7" NEC tubes, this set will scan to 60 Khz,
good for HDTV and past line tripling. Digital convergence with a few memory
locations, the projector comes with the wireless remote control and the full
instruction manual. An excellent image when properly set up, it comes complete
with point convergence. Video, S-video and RGB inputs for full versatility. NEC
did not drive these tubes very hard, so you should get another 7000-800 hours of
use out of them. This projector came out of a university and is very clean ON

Ampro 2000's. I've got about 15 of these sets here, these are the first ones
I've looked at . More to come on the list in 2 weeks. These are data grade
projectors that have video, S-video and RGB Inputs. 600 lumens from the original
tubes, some of these sets came with slightly brighter 750 lumen tubes as
indicated below. Full digital convergence, I'll sell these with a wireless
remote control and will loan a wired remote to initially set these up, as the
wired remotes respond better while converging. I've replaced the memory battery
with brand new ones, a common problem with these sets. The new battery will last
about 8 years. 80 Khz scan rate allow well past line quadrupling, but these 7"
tubes look best at about 1024 X 768 or line tripling. Very slimline sets, only
10" deep make for a good installation where low ceilings are an issue. One of
the sets is on eBay here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32862&item=3063501252
The condition of the sets is as follows:
1- has slight blue wear outside of the 16:9 area due to text wear. The area
within the 16:9 ratio is fine, so if you're running a wide screen format only,
this set will save you some money! $550.00
2- identical condition for both of these (1 is on eBay). You'll get 8000
hours+ out of the tubes $650.00
1- 0 hour set newer 750 lumen tubes installed full 10K hour + life out of
these tubes $900.00
2 Sony 1270. I have not had these in a while, these are larger tubed
projectors with 650 lumens and scan to 75 Khz. Video, S-video and RGB inputs,
digital convergence, on screen menus make these a snap to install. Very reliable
chassis, I've sold lots of these over the last few years. This model has no hour
meter on it, but these two 1270's have no wear on the tubes. You'll get 9000
hours at least out of these tubes. Both sets work flawlessly and come with a
wireless remote. One is on eBay here:

$1000.00 each
1- Electrohome Marquee 8000. This is a different one than what I listed last
time. A true 8" EM focus set, it scans to 110 Khz and has 1000 lumens light
output. Digital convergence, on screen menus, very easy to set up. Video,
S-video and RGB inputs. The G and B tubes have a bit of wear but will still
throw a good pix for about 5000 hours. A great way to get into a higher end set
for a cheap price, I just have too many sets here.. On eBay here:

$1000.00
1 Runco DTV 852. A smaller 7" set than the Marquee above, but I've put a new
green tube into this set which puts it a bit above the Marquee 8000. This is a
Zenith PRO 900x set with a built in doubler as manufactured by Runco. The
doubler has been disabled, so only the RGB inputs work on this set. 800 lumens
with very sharp focus for an ES focus set. 50 Khz scan rate make this set good
for HDTV and up to line triplers. You'll get 9000 hours+ out of these tubes.
Digital convergence, on screen menus, and the set comes with the wireless remote
and the full set of manuals. ON eBay here:

$1500.00
2- Ampro 3600 This is a fully blown 8" EM focus high end set similar to the
Barco 808 or Marquee series, using the same MEC tubes. 1200 lumens, easy to set
up with the included wired remote. Lots of control over the image allow for an
excellent image. Video, S-video and RGB inputs. Another low profile set, not as
tall as other similar projectors. Very natural fleshtones. I've got two of
these. The one on eBay here is the less expensive of the two. You'll get a good
5000 hours out of the one on ebay, 7000 hours + out of the more expensive one.

$1500.00 for the one on ebay, $1700.00 for the one with longer life tubes.
1- BArco 708. I had this sold on eBay, but it turned out to be a deadbeat
bidder.. A great little quiet performer, this is a very compact set for a 1200
lumen light output. 7" Toshiba tubes, rebuildable if ever needed. 69 Khz scan
rate, Video, S-video, RGB and component inputs make this a very versatile set,
good for 1280 X 1024 resolution, completely HDTV compatible. Only 2737 hours on
the chassis, you'll get at least 7000 hours out of the tubes. I've got one more
of these in stock that I'll have to retube at some point. On eBay here:

$2600.00
1 NEC XG 110. I've got a few XG's in stock again that I am working on, this
is the one that I've been using personally in my own HT for the last couple of
months. Second from the top of the line in the non LC models,, this set puts out
1200 lumens from 8" EM focus tubes. 110 Khz scan rate which is more than you'll
ever need for any HT application. Video, S-video and RGB inputs, digital
convergence, on screen menus, a very comprehensive set up available for fully
dialling this set in. About 3000 hours only on this set, I've put in a new NEC
green tube and a rebuilt blue due to some very slight wear. I'll be selling the
original tubes out of this set on eBay shortly. On eBay here:

ANNOUNCEMENT:
As of Friday I have been set up as a Lumagen video processor dealer here in
Vancouver. I do not know what the internet/cross border rules are for Lumagen,
but I do have pricing for Canada. I'll know in the next few days what their
policy is, so for those of you looking to get a high end scaler, I'll send out
details in the next mailout, or shoot me a quick email and I'll let you know
about pricing and about selling over the 'net.
I'll also be listing some audio equipment on eBay shortly, I've gotten some
transistors in finally for some large power amplifiers, in the 300-600 watt
range.
PARTS NEEDED:
As always, I'm looking for some parts:
2- Barco 1208 neck boards
1- Ampro 2300 registration and CPU board
1- Ampro 2000 CPU board (older style)
Over the holidays I'll be working on setting up a total of 4 theater set-ups
at the home here to better demonstrate a larger range of projectors.I'll also be
listing a number of audio and video pieces that have been lying around here to
clear up some space. I'll also have a larger range of modules available for loan
and for sale as the dead boards have been piling up. Thanks as always for your
support!
One last note: I'm looking to upgrade one of my computers here at the office
to something new and reliable. If someone wants to swap some computer hardware
for a projector or misc HT items, specifically someone that is located in
Vancouver, please let me know!
