What is the best solution for getting two or three hdmi inputs into my hdfury? I bought a splitter from a guy on AVS but it won't do two inputs to one output, it's the opposite, one input to two outputs. I'm looking for a switch to run 2 or 3 inputs into my pj. There are several on amazon, not sure which ones are good. Question

The monoprice switches are usually pretty highly rated.

Here is a 4x2 for plenty of future upgradeability plus will run another display for $89!

Yep. For cheap, you can't beat the Monoprice switches. If you don't care about a second display, they get even cheaper than that!

So... could I run two projectors at the same time on the 2 outputs on this one? Like a stack?

Sure, you could do that... With a Moome card in each projector ($$ ouch!), or into two HD Fury's and out to the projector. But it would be simpler and cheaper to just use a regular 4x1 HDMI switch into an HD Fury and then out to an RGB distribution amp (or matrix switcher) to drive the two projectors.

The latter is how I'll be setting up my 'just for fun stack' this weekend! Twisted Evil

Stacking the 1271 and 1272? That's what I want to do with mine. I have a 1271 switcher and an extron 8 also. either one of those do the job? I only have one fury

I have the monoprice 4x2 matrix switch linked above. For me it works very well. I had to put electrical tape across the front though, because the LEDs are super bright. But other than that no problems and it seems like a real bargain.

My inputs are an Xbox360, PS3, Oppo 981, and my HTPC. The outputs go to the moome card on my G90 and my little Panasonic PT-AX200. Both devices accept 720p/1080p and handshaking is surprisingly trouble free.

The only one that is a little finicky is the PS3 with the AX200... I have to turn the PS3 on and then really quickly set the input for the AX200 to it. If I dont do it right away it doesnt sync up and I have to power cycle the switch and the PS3 and try again. With the G90, the timing is not as critical and I can turn the PS3 on and then switch the projector to it and it always seems to hook up. And if the PS3 has already connected to the G90 I can turn the AX200 on and switch to it whenever without a problem.

But if you just want something to switch between a couple inputs to one output for your HD-Fury it should work and have an extra output in case you did want to use a monitor or other display down the line.

I have the monoprice 4x2 also.. I just set it up last week with one output to an HDFury/RTC-2200 to the NEC PG projector. I dont currently use the second output.

It works fine, but my damn motorola 6200 STB from comcast has known issues with the hdcp handshaking when switching devices are before the display. It would freak out every time it was de-selected from the active input of the switch. Luckily I had a n older Motorola 5100 HD STB in another room with DVI output, and it seems to work now. Time will tell if this remains reliable, but I can now switch between the PS3, STB, and HTPC.

The image quality is definitely superior to the analog out of the STB, and the blu-ray content blows the upconverted DVD's away IMO.

Uh huh - over-under stack. The G70 is going on the ceiling soon, so before the 1271 comes down, I want to try stacking the 12xx's - it will probably be the last chance I have to play with a stack for a long time - maybe ever. Might as well try it. Just to say I've done it.

Personally, I don't think it's really practical to actually use - the 12xx's aren't that sharp to begin with, they're old enough that most of them drift at least a little, and really they're bright enough at the screen sizes we use them. Stacking will just make touching up convergence twice as much work, will make the image even softer, and will make drift twice the problem it already is. Not to mention, you'll burn twice the room, make twice the noise, twice the heat, and maybe the worst - twice the power consumption: Close to 1500w or about 12A worth of projectors.

The System 8 switcher only has 1 RGB output I think, so that does you no good. The PC1271 has two outputs, but one is the high-bandwidth RGBHV and the other is the lower-bandwidth SIC-M. If you have a SIC-M cable laying around (hardly anybody does), you could try that for one machine. Otherwise, just find an Extron box (distribution amp or small matrix switcher) on fleabay with dual buffered RGB outputs. Run the Fury's output into the Extron input, and each output to a 12xx.

EDIT -
Here's some splitter/DA options:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120229253271
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180221454453

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220209698621

Some are VGA and some are RGBHV BNC, so you'll want to pick based on your cabling now (for instance, what cable(s) you have running to the projector)

I have the SIC-m cable too. Came with the switcher. Sounds like it might be more work than I'm up for. I'm still not done tweaking the 1272 on the ceiling...

Another vote for Monoprice HDMI switchers. Never actually used one myself but they're the ones that are always recommended. Dirt cheap (around $50 for 4-5 inputs), a remote control too. They also have HDMI 1.3a compliant ones now as well.

Another vote for Monoprice. Bought one for the theater, loved it so much bought one for downstairs. NEVER a single hiccup, and being in California I got to use the overnight shipping option which only cost 90 cents more than regular shipping. How much more kick ass could Monoprice be? Thumbs Up

I bought one of these: http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20switch%20splitter_5x2_toslink.html Not cheap, but it switches audio along with video, and sends the audio to a single Toslink output.

does the monoprice 4x2 pass the audio as well? for the pj, this isn't an issue, but i would like to use it to send video AND audio via hdmi to a 2nd room tv. only having to run 1 hdmi cable to the 2nd zone tv would be a bonus

I dont have an hdmi receiver, so I cant say from experience that it does. But it says it supports hdmi v1.3 which would be kind of silly if it didnt support audio.

I've not used this one, but had been interested in it at one time. I am using the 4x1 from monoprice without any problems (feeding into an HDfury).
