Once again...
FAILURE: I2C error addr.: 86H
on a Barco 1208S/E
Just lovely...the projector seems to be firing up just fine and it's still displaying an image...it's just whenever I try to adjust anything it comes out with this error even though it'll actually adjust things. I'm just going to hope someone's got a better idea than I do about this.

...and besides this, I'm having a beast of a time getting the image to line up. I can get everything focused and sized about right but the red drifts out pretty intensely in the upper right corner and the blue does the similar in a slightly less intense manner in the bottom left corner. Down the middle horizontally and vertically you see similar problems. Again, as these are only on one side of the set adjustment of the focus yoke does nothing. I can get a pretty great center image but everything else is totally off way past basic convergence and focus.

Do you have seagull correction in your menu?
Look at your convergence driver board R762518 if you have the nwe style (2x7), how many bella's are there 2x6 or 2x7 on topside. This was a SEOS machine?
Find a good foto from a Magn. Focus & Horz. shift board and compare this with yours.
Further look here https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=7529.html

recheck all your IC wire connections (the littel yellow ones)
may also be the cpu.
As wil posted - the three convergence boards are not always interchangable - better to get them as a set.

If I remember correctly, 86H is the H shift board. Chances are you need a new board (or I can repair your old one). You can actually live with a failure of the H shift board, as you can use the R and B trimpots on that board to adjust the H shift. Problem is, the cover of the set needs to be off for that.
If your set has mix and match convergence boards (or other boards), then you can get one or two I2R errors due to some components missing.
For example, the SEOS projectors had all possible adjustments on them, ie the H linearity sub board is installed on the SEOS stock units. Problem is, the H lin board cannot be transferred to a stock 1208/808 convergence board, so you end up leaving it off. That will give an I2R error when you try and adjust the H lin if you've converted the SEOS set to flat screen use, so that function becomes disabled. The set still works fine though.

I took a look at all the Barco Service manuals that I have and it would seem that the errors are the same across all models, with newer projectors having more error codes of course as new features are added.
So I took the latest model service manual I have (a Zenith 1200 which is just a rebadged late model Barco Cine 8 Onyx) and extracted the pages with the error codes and created a PDF document. It can now be found at the bottom of the Barco Download pages on the site. Example: http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco1208_Downloads.shtm
That being said, I don't see any error 86H! Odd.

I've got the R762518 w/ 2X7 Bella's. I wasn't aware of these being SEOS machines. The other cards on the convergence tray are R762514 and R762519 and the R762510 RS232 dealy. I just swapped out H shift boards as I have two so here goes nothing...though I'm actually putting the original back in. For some reason I switched these out last week. I don't remember why. No problem or anything, just a random thing to do.

I just remembered that I also swapped out the convergence trays for the hey of it so I just put that back in as well and thus far, no issues. It's really strange because even with the error, everything seemed to function normally.

Things I don't get:
1) Why do my convergence controls not work? They do some very strange pulsating adjustment when moved between about 47-51 and that's it.
2) Why can I not adjust the top and bottom bow and keystone at all? Adjustments do absolutely nothing.
3) Still can't figure out why the red and green images are so disproportionate to each other and the green...
4) Could my projector really be a SEOS version? How can I tell? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?
Things I want:
1) New tubes ASAP.
2) Maybe new lenses...I must be a real snob as the color inaccuracy is already really bugging me and I don't even have a converged image yet.
3) HDFury Green.
4) Blu-Ray.
5) AT&T's new HD Cable service to hurry up and get installed in the area before the season premiere of Lost.
6) Scaler.
Things I'm excited about:
1) 1080P, while still suffering from the same convergence issues that have plagued every input is resolving with astounding sharpness and clarity. What a blatant and profound improvement over 720P.
2) Solved width issues.
3) No more errors.
