Do "bare" PT18's fit good in Sony G70 LC-housings without leakage.
Because I have the option to get some G70 LC housings, but for my 808's I have already 2 sets "bare" PT18's.
May be I feed the search button with the wrong terms, but i didn't find it.

Terry had done this for a couple of FP 808 LC setups. I do not recall that he ran into any major issues with fit.

If PT18s measure 160mm diagonally they will fit.

Oké, the 18 in PT18 stays for 180 mm, but even ES tubes (listed as 7") as P16LPK, P16LKC, P16LNU, P16LMN, P16LNG, P16LPL or EM tube P16LKE have a greater tube dimension than these 160 mm diagonal, greatest diagonal tube dimension of these is 175-177 mm.
Are P16LJE really so small?
The PT18 has the greatest tube dimensions, horizontal 158 mm vertical 132 and diagonally 180 mm
compared to the smallest from the P16 above, the P16LPL with horizontal 151,7 mm, vertical 125,3 and diagonally 175 mm
PT18 minimal screen dimensions horizontal 130 mm, vertical 105 mm and diagonally 153 mm
for P16LPL the minimal screen dimensions horizontal 127 mm, vertical 100 and diagonal 150 mm
A 180DVB22 is a 180mm listed tube and has the same dimesions as the PT18 witin 1 mm.

Now you're testing my memory..I can't remember offhand if 160mm is the whole glass envelope or just the phospher. From what you are saying it's just the phosphur.
All P16 Panasonic tubes will be the same size.
So it sounds like the PT18 is bigger and it won't fit.

I have no idea how I must correlate these 160 mm with what I measure (caliper gauge).
Also the service manual from the G70 doesn´t give the greatest tube dimensions for the P16LJE tube, only
Picture tube: 8-inch (phosphor size 6-inch) high luminance, electromagnetic focus tubes
( 8"= 203 mm and 6" 152,4 mm)
I have found the technical specifications from the Toshiba P16's tubes and these compare what I measure but not from the Panasonic, does anybody have a link or know the greatest tube dimensions from a P16LJE tube.

I measure a bare P16LJE08KHA, straight out of a G70.
Diagonal is 175 overall. Diagonal PHOSPHUR is 157 = a touch under 160.
7", 8" and 9" are just marketing, they bear no resemblance to reality.

The PT18 is exactly the same size as the P16 tube and the 180 tube.
Meaning I have had all three in the same Barco housing. I have no direct knowledge of Sony G70 housings.

It's been a while but as I recall when we built the two 808LC's I believed that we had a look at the G70 housings (because of their superior tube R & R as well as scheimflug) and concluded hat the 180 series of tube wouldn't fit in the housing. We were actually thinking of going that route since I have G70 housings here.
We also looked at putting G90 housings in the 1209 series and although the tubes fit, there were pretty serious problems w/ getting the G90 housings to fit in the 1209 series.
So in the 808LC and 1208LC projects we ended up going the way that was outlined in the threads.

Beside that the PT18 tube does not fit in the G70 housing, it is almost impossibe to keep the 10,5 degree mountig position in a 808 chassis and there is almost no room for the adapters.
I go the way you let see on the other forum, with the C-elements from the G70 and HD18 objective.
