HI there,
I had the project to covered my Barco 1208/2 in to a 1208/2LC.
The first step was to get the LC-Housings; thanks to MadMrH I got the hardware very quickly.
Pic.4
The next step was to built adapters to fit the LC-Housings into the projector, this was also easy I made a drawing and thanks to some guys in my company I had them within a week.

But then the Problem started I had to get Lenses. I had two choices the HD117-14 used in Barco Retroblocks with a limited screen width of 1,6mbut this would not be enough for my HC and the HD215, they don’t have a separate corner focus ring but I thought Barco used them for the Zenith 1200 so they can’t be so bad.
So I bought the HD 215.

But then I had to find out that 8”LC’s use different C-Elements so that I couldn’t use the HD-215 with the LC-Assembly. I just couldn’t get a sharp picture.
So what to do?
With a bit of searching I found in the Barco Lensprogram the HD117-24, they are good for a screen width of up to 240cm. So I tried to get them and I found a set but one day before I transferred the money to settle the deal I got an offer for a 808s retroblock with HD117-24.
The asked price for this Projector was really good especially if you take in aspect that it is almost a Zenith1200 just the coloured C-Elements and the orbitingboard are missing, but there for it comes with HD117-24 instead of the hd-215’s so that I could get good corner focus.
The next thing I know is that I had the 808s Retroblock in my room.
Pic.5
There was no way that I could use this in my Home cinema.
I had to alternatives first I will take the tubes and the LC-hardware out of this projector and but it into my 1208/2 as I intended to or I would take the 808S apart and try to turn the L shape into a I shape.
So this is what I did:
Pic.6-8
And so I ended up with an ugly 808SLC (almost Zenith 1200) that it is ugly is no problem because it is hidden in a Hushbox.
The transformation of the Projector was easy I just had to take the case of the LC-Assembly apart and cut a piece away from the Al-Plates and drill two holes that’s it.
The picture quality of the 808sLC is way better then the picture of the 1208/2 due to the almost pristine new tubes (High resolution tubes) the LC-Hardware, and Contrast modulation. Razz

There are only to bad thinks about the new projector: it is a bit dimmer and it got a bit of ringing but I think this is due to my long cable run almost 10m. Before with the 1208/2 I couldn’t see any the ringing I think this is because I couldn’t get the picture as sharp as I can get it now.

So if anybody needs Adapters for 8”Lc Housings for a Barco1208/2 or a set of LC Housings with tubes sent me a PM I don’t need them any more.

You actually have another choice that works very well and we have built a few 808LC's based on this.
Replace the CElement with those from a G70 or XG and use the G70/XGLC lens's.

That bed is awesome!! I can fully understand why you built it like a fort... If it can't rock, the convergence won't take a knock. Laughing

So how tall are you?? Do you use the lenses as a step to get in? Or a small trampoline? Laughing Sure would suck to forget they're there and slide out of bed in the middle of the night and whack the package on them! Laughing

Hi hansilili,

I am not realy active in the german crt scene.

Is it worth coming to one of this CRT Stammtischen?

I have now a HD fury and I am realy happy with it. The only problem is the known problem of the pictrue width and the crushed blacks.
So I guess that soon I will have to get a RTC2200.

Machs gut

Sorry no plans,
normally I just go into the DIY and think what I can built.

Before I placed the 808sLC into the bed there was a 1208 with HD8 in it, the projector inclusive the lenses were completely hidden in the Bed.
If you have a closer look at picture you can see three handels they are for big drawers.
The one right under the PJ is filled with DVD and the remote.

If you want to built one your self just do it, it is not so difficult. Razz

How do you cool the projector? It looks like it's completely enclosed under the bed no? It would run too hot I think... though it would provide for a nice warm place to sleep. Smile
