On my Cine 9 the Windows texts was readable at that, but the line overlap was bad enough to make it too soft to be useful.

Can you send me this test pattern please.

Only a 909 can make the 1 pixel lines so clearly distinguished because of his razor sharp focus and astig abilities. Thumbs Up

Well there would be nothing stopping a 912 or a Cine 9 doing it too.

Hi Guys,
I picked up another SEOS 808s with only 1292 hours on the clock. The tubes are mint. I finally got around to firing it up today. Did a quick focus and alignment and all was good for about 10 minutes and then it started drifting of focus. It ended up to far out to bring it back with adjustment. The picture size is pulsing slightly as well. I changed the power supply, HV and the Horz/Focus boards but no change. I think its either the Quad or the splitter. Any other ideas? All 3 tubes drift in focus.
Thanks,
Greg

Yep its the splitter. I have a spare one that has good focus but a shaky picture that I used to do a test.
1300 hours, goes to show you that these things can fail just from sitting around and not just from hours of use.

I just check what tubes are in this latest purchase. Full set of mint P18-205's. The other 3 SEOS 808s I have are a combo of P16 and a P18 green. Time to add a set of HD144 lens and open my still sealed in the Barco box splitter Crying or Very sad I guess I had to open it eventually.

SEOS 808s MOOME EXT 3 HD and HD8 REV B Lens. 1080p@60. There maybe a band width issue with the media player that I am using for the test signal. 30,000 hours on the clock. This is my test projector.

Is this with the Eisemann mods? It is not bad at all.

I think this is the best possible for Barco at this moment. But this is with 909 neckboards and Eissemann mods.

Comes from Francisco's 909 in this thread.

Thanks,
All my own mods. Most of are on power rails and the signal path. The picture is super sharp at 1080p.
I have just done the last mod to my main project. It looks even better due to the Momme internal, new tubes and HD144 lens. I will post some screen shots soon.

I am very interested in what you did on the video signal path. Do you want to share? Upgraded opamps and transistors?

No problem with sharing,
I will put together a list. 8 months worth of trial and error.
Do you have an oscilloscope? If so can you check the 17 volt rail for ringing. At the same point you check the 17Volt for adjustment. It will be interesting to see how much better the Barco 9 series power supply is than the 8 series. I ended up adding snubbers to most of the power supply rails.
I have added a before and after shot.

You could use those video boards in a 909. Would make the picture somewhat sharper and ultra low noise because if anything a 909 is very well designed with very low noise. But the driver although the same videopath is not compatible.

They look great and I bet they better than these images show. Well done. Are you going to make the mods you have done available?

Hi guys,
I played with lots of different changes over the last 8 months. The one listed below is what I have ended up keeping in place. Some may only make a small improvement and some make a big improvement. Together they produce an amazing picture with depth and sharpness. Give them a go, you have nothing to loose.

The 22pf caps made one of the biggest difference along with snubbers on the power supply.

The snubbers are 2200pf 6kv cap in series with a 100k 2watt resistors. There is a snubber across D201,D202 and D205. The ones across the +17 and -17 helped a lot with reducing noise.
The BFR93a are on EBay and are a straight swap for the BFS17. They are a 6Ghz wideband transistor. There is also one BFS17 on the 120mhz neck board (Q2) that I changed to the BFR93a as well.
The 22pf between pin 6 and 7 of the of the AD835 I used an 0402 (fly sh*t size) 22pf 200v ultra low ESR cap. This fits perfectly between the pins.
The 22pf from pin 8 to ground is a through hole ceramic. I also changed the electro's in the signal path to 10uf 50v low ESR ceramic caps. I have ordered some tantalums that I will have a play with in these positions at some stage.
I increased the value of electro's that are across the +5v to the -5v on the AD835 chips to 33uf and added a 10uf ceramic to help reduce ripple current. I also added a low noise fan behind the green tube to keep the regulators on the switcher and driver boards cool. They do run hot.

Do you have the same bandwidth on port 3 and port 5 now?

I don't have any real way of measuring. By eye they look the same on the 1:1.
I think there is a little more detail with the Moome internal

Ok but you also did something on the neckboard. Replaced an opamp? Those extra caps I will try too.
