Current setup: HTPC/bluray/xbox - VP50 pro - HDFury 3 - RTC2220 - Cine 8

Wondering if there is a relatively cheap way to get my setup calibrated?

My VP50 pro almost has no functions so this can't be done and i can't afford a Radiance Mini.

I suppose i could do grayscale with the controls in my Barco and the gamma boost from the RTC2200?

Is this possible? And if so, which software and meter do i need for it to be done?

There a few Lumagen HDP processors for sale at videogon and I think some one has one here for sale.

Id get that and sell the DVDO.

I could get a Lumagen HDP Pro + a set of modded HD144's for +- the money i could get for my VP50 pro.

But a HPD Pro only does 1080p24 if I'm not mistaken. I'd lose the ability to scale 1080p60 to 960P60 (which i prefer for my Xbox and will only get sharper when i get 120mhz amps)

Much better meter (more accurate/faster reading). You don't need to read my 20,000 word guide. Instead, ChromaPure guides you through the process. My guide is actually based on the ChromaPure process because it's so intuitive. Cost is about $400-500. The "PRO" version is on sale until Jan 15.

Cost is about $2000. Instead of only calibrating 6 points this does up to 125 and does it completely automatically without you having to adjust anything in the display or understand what to do next. The result is increased accuracy from slightly more accurate to much more accurate (depends how non-linear the display's response is - many are not accurate so the 125 point really helps). Instead of doing 2 point greyscale you're also doing 20. Same with gamma. Instead of adjusting one single control on the RTC2200, you get 20 points to adjust and it's done automatically. Results in perfectly flat greyscale & gamma. I was never able to get my Cine 8 perfectly flat using only the controls in the display with the RTC2200. Wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but it was never flat. To see my results read the my free guide (the first link above). It was done with a low end meter and only the RTC2200 for gamma, and 2-point greyscale adjustment inside the projector.

My xbox can only do 720p60 - 1080p60 or 1080i60.

I'll probably grab the Lumagen and exchange it with my dvdo unit.

I don't need 1080p72, my projector is very soft at that point.

@Kal - do you have any experience with the Spyder 4?

I have read your comments on the 1-2-3 versions, i was hoping the 4 was better since it's by far the cheapest option.

I will grab the Lumagen HDP (not pro) and change my videochain to

HTPC/bluray/xbox - HDP - (long hdmi cable) - HDFury 3 - Cine 8

Can use component or RGBHV for my xbox so i will have enough inputs, can try 1080i or else i will stick with 720p.

Putting the HDFury at the end, high quality RGBHV cables are a lot more expensive than HDMI cables

Now for a meter, doubting between the ColorHCFR or Chromapure solution, the difference in cost isn't that great.
