HI,

Well my Zenith 1200 lost it's HV. It appears that it might be the quad or the splitter because both the red leds are on on the EHT board. All the leds are green on the diag board which says all the supplies are good and there's no scan fail led. I checked the fuse on the EHT board and it's okay. That's all I've checked so far as I'm doing a little readup on the technical descriptions of the boards I've never dealt with before.

Unless I missed checking something what do the Barco owners that have gone through this before think, Curt?

Damn and this happened right after the last afternoon NFL game so I had to watch the cowboys on the small screen.

Thanks

After doing some reading and looking at the schematics I suppose it could also be the EHT board too. Curt do you have any spares of these parts for the 1200?

It's most likely the quad. I don't think I have any, but email me later this week. Out of town tomorrow, but back on Tuesday.

Okay will do, thanks. Does it seem odd that it would go, the unit only has about 3200Hrs on it.

I've seen a lot of the new ones die. My theory is that the potting compound goes conductive over time. I can draw arcs from the silicone of intermittent ones to a screwdriver grounded to the chassis. I made the mistake once of accidentally brushing my arm against one I had lifted out of the set that had leaky silicone.

TINGLE! and then some...

Yeah that would give you a bit of a tingle. I've been bit a few times in my younger years.

Another thing that strikes me as odd was there were no leds lit on the RGB switcher board, hmmm, I'll have to think about that one and have another look at the schematics. Having no HV shouldn't have affected that board.

I bet my left foot it is your quad. Those new quads just aren't as reliable as the old ones. I ended up going back to an older EHT/Quad in my Runco 1100s (1209s). Works great. Both new quads in my Runcos were dead are nearly so (one ran for 15 mins). Of course they did have north of 14k hours. The EHTs were fine though even with though hours.

Yeah after doing some more checking I'd say that's the problem. Now to see if Curt has one or if he can get one.

Hi Mike,

Hmmm I'm at work but off the top of my head I'm going to say the number on the quad is R762717. I'll double check that tonight and get back if it's wrong, thanks. If I'm not mistaken, Curt said anything prior to 1998 should work from a 808, I'm sure about the 1209 series, if they use 34.7K for HV then it should be the same I would think.

No, what I should have said is anything POST 1998 will work. Smile

You can also use the earlier quads, but you need to change the EHT board and do a mod to it before it will work. I'm still out of stock right now before anything else.

Oh, it should have been after 1998, okay. So to use earlier quads (pre 98) you also need an earlier EHT board which also has to be modded as well.

And you're out of any and all combinations at the moment, okay.

So what do you have Mike or should I say what vintage of quad do you have?

Thanks guys.

That's correct. I just checked my last two 'test these' quads, and both are bad...

Let me know what part number. I also have parts on the way to me and should be here soon, but I'll need to know the part number.

Hi Mike,

I'll do that when I get home in about 30 mins. I wonder if I shortened the life of the quad when I switched the startup of the projector to the white screen startup mode which keeps the white screen up about 30 mins after startup.

Okay I took a look and the quad is a R762717, the splitter is R762718 and the EHT board is 780543-01000.

Your EHT should be R7627165, that and your splitter (R762718) is the same used in the 909/Cine9.

Your QUAD is different from what's used in a 909/Cine9.

It'll get back to you later, It'll take me a day or so to check all places for one.
