Hello,

I am running a PS3/Ext-HD/Barco 808s and am having some issues with the freq reverting to 50hz (from 60). I believe this is only happening with new release PAL movies. Even after I rip them I get the same result. Blu Ray and all the NTSC titles handshake and display fine. Nothing I have tried in the PS3 menus prevents this from happening. When the movie loads the PJ sends me the resolution indication and it changes from 60 to 50hz at that time. I am guessing it is Ext-HD doing this. When I hook up the PS3 to the plasma tv the problem goes away. If this is indeed the problem then how do I get the Ext-HD to hold 60hz?

Many Thanks,

Thermio

Thats because PAL movies are 25fps and often run at 50Hz. It is your PS3 doing this, not the Ext-HD. The Ext-HD is only following sync

Thank you, it did seem like it was PAL related and it is good to know why. Now, I have the question of how to be able to switch back and forth between NTSC, PAL and BD without setting up the Barco each time I do this. Does anybody know a way to lock the PS3 to one frequency or the other in 720p or 1080i or have some suggestion for this.

Many Thanks,

you have to create signal entries for each combination of refresh rate and resolution in your Barco.

Do convergence for all of them.

Once the entries are stored and you have touched up convergence for all of them, your Barco will remember them whenever it encounters those signals again.

In many cases the Barco should be able to tell from the signal properties which entry to switch to. But sometimes the signal properties will be too close, so you would have to manually select the proper entry.
