Maybe its just me, but lately almost all the movie previews I watch on dvd show up as widescreen shrunk down to fit in a 4:3 wide box, most of the movies work fine in full widescreen, though I have come across two movies that actually did this too. It happens in both my bluray (ps3) and my hd dvd player running thru a hdmi switcher into my hd fury then to the projector. Anyone else had this happen? Its really not that big of a deal, but it does irritate me every time lol, just curious why its happening.

I don't know why, but a lot - maybe most - movie trailers are letterboxed 4:3 rather than anamorphic. Your PS3 knows your display is 16:9, so it pillarboxes the 4:3 VOB - which is already letterboxed. The net effect is that you get a damn widescreen trailer with bars on the top and bottom and both sides - basically a little image in a giant field of black. If you have a PS3, you can at least zoom in on it to fill the screen (albeit at the expense of a lot of resolution).

I hate it. I know it's probably encoded for TV then just used for the DVD, but at this point, I wish they would just do away with 4:3 material.
