do the current lineup of 6-900$ (street price) receivers handle hdmi switching well enough for crt usage? assuming a marquee with a moome card is at the end of the chain.

my last theater had a denon 2805 receiver, and i was happy with that, but used an NEC switcher, extron boxes rgbhv etc. will the latest 2808 upconvert/transcode s-vid and component and play nice with the moome card and say a monoprice 4x2 matrix switcher (since the 2808 only has 2 inputs and i would like to send video via hdmi to a 2nd zone). i suppose almost all video sources are including hdmi, so component transcoding isn't that important...

Or there other receivers in this price range that will do what i'm after? or is there a better video chain option for a reasonable price?

if there is additional info req'd, let me know

thanks guys!
robb

I believe that Sony is coming out with 1-2 consumer AVRs that will switch 1080P--especially since their inception of consumer-priced Blu-ray players.

$50 Monoprice HDMI 1.3 switcher and a programmable remote. You'll never have to worry about the receiver having to try and do everything.

I have heard a lot of good things about the new onkyo receivers starting with the 605 to the 705, 805 and 905, with your price range you could go up to the 805 which they have at J&R for $700 shipped, pretty big jump in price up to the 905. They are all hdmi 1.3 compatible and can process the new hd audio tracks through hdmi. Ive been looking at them for awhile and will prob grab a 805 myself one of these days, the 605 is a really good reciever for its price around $400, but it wont matrix 5.1 tracks into 7.1, which I find to be the biggest draw back and it only has 2 hdmi inputs. The 705 is around $600 if you look a bit, thx select, with 3 hdmi ports 110 watts a channel, component to hdmi transcoding and I think some video upconversion. The 805 has 4 hdmi ports, is thx ultra 2 cert, 140 watts a channel and has a few more bells and whistles than the 705. These receivers have a lot of features that the higher end denon and hk and such charge a lot more for. I think Ill prob pick one up in 6 months or so, when the new series comes out and the prices on these will prob almost be in half
