The picture on my Ampro 3600 just went black for a very short time and I heard a crack, the OSD then showed HVPS RESTART. I just replaced the blue tube so I was wondering if this could be caused by a bad HV lead of the blue tube. If so, should I replace it?
Greetings,

Could of been that or at least a dozen other things. Seeing is finding. And yes you can replace just the wire if thats what it is.

The Ampro's are well known for an overly sensitive HVPS and restarts. My 4000 has hundreds of HV restarts under its belt.

However since you just changed the tube check the HV lead for holes and arcing first.

Ok thank you, I will look if this happens again, and then see if I need to replace the HV lead. I tried removing the HV lead of another tube and it was a PITA as there was silicone everywhere, also in the hole of the tube... Thumbs Down

That's way to much silicone. When I did mine ( I had a pretty purple arc over an inch long ) I just used a knife blade as seen in my pictures here:

and there's a how to here:

Here's the blade I fould that worked best. It's stiffer than a regular single edged razor blade.

Yeah I read the howto before, but I wasn't able to do it that way as everything was filled out with silicone. I was only an old tube and I just wanted to try it out so I didn't put too much effort in it. I'm still hoping I will never have this issue again...
