Hi,
I've been working on rehabing my xg1352 and I noticed a scratch on the green outer lens of the LC unit. I have a spare so I can switch it out. I'm wondering is it worth replacing it? It is relatively superficial, but about 1 inch long.

If I do it, how do I get enough glycol out so that it doesn't spill out when I take that lense off.

Thanks, Kevin

well, fist of all, the lens is not part of the LC chamber.
you can take it off without spilling a drop of fluid. just make sure you only remove the screws that retain the lens. If its like the Marquee you can accidentally remove the screws from the LC chamber from the front thinking they hold on the lens.

second
even a significant scratch on the front of the lens is invisible on the projected image. so I wouldn't bother.....

thats probably a lie. If i had a spare lens, i would swap them... Embarassed

I've had a lenses with large gouges in them, caused by what appeared to be dragging the projector along a painted floor by the lenses, and after removing the paint from the gouges, they did not visibly impact the image on screen AT ALL, so unless you want to change it for aesthetic reasons, there's no need to do it from a performance perspective.

As others have stated, it won't affect the image. Reason being that the outside lens is so far from the focal point that it's not noticed.
