The Labels intern shows all Mexico ... (I am from Germany pleas look not so exactly at my Language Smile) )

My Problem is that the horizontal Transistor is blown dead to short cyrcit.

The Number on it is TZ1239 is this a NPN or PNP Type and what´s about the Voltage and the Current ?
Can i use a other one this is very expensive here over 35$.

Is there any reason that this Part blow´s away ... must i change other part´s to.

The Projector starts over FB but the right Power suply on the Back makes a noise that is not yery nice.
Is this a reason of the not connectet HV Trans. or is there a other reason for the nois.

Wath´s about the Focus and screen splitter Board... must i change it.. or can i test the unit after change of the Trans.
with this wires not looked at the tubes.

Pleas answer me for further details... Thank´s from Germany near Cologne. J.Haverland

It's a rebadged Zenith 840/850 unit.

See here for more info: http://www.curtpalme.com/Zenith841.shtm

Zenith PJs were manufactured in Mexico iirc.

Btw, if you think $35 to get a PJ going again (be it CRT or any digital) is too much I don't think you are into the right hobby Wink Though I must admit that I wouldn't want to invest much more than that into a baseband unit.

Kai

EDIT: it was not RCF, but Zenith

It's a PRO 841 or 851. I have those transistors c/w mounting plate, $25.00 shipped to you. ANy standard H output transistor will work though, 8 amp, 1500 volts.

Chances are your HV board might be bad as well though, Zenith had a bad run of those way back when, I'm still seeing sets with low hours that haven't blown until recently. I've got those 9-848 boards as well.

Very Happy Now i have used a 2SC5421 it works but the Power drops from 150 to 92V and the Tr. goes hot..
The Osziloskope shows a Signal but i think the Flyback Trafo is short ...
I Have losen all Kabels from the HV Trafo to the Focus and Screen Board ... but there is no high Voltage on it
A littel but i think much to low...

The Number on the Trafo is 95-4170-02 My list of HR-Dimen goes over this number but the number is not in my List.

Can you tell me the Price of this unit (Trafo or kopmplete Board) and is it necessarie to change the Focus and sreen Board to.??

With the 35$ i men only that i have a lott of things laying here and i thougt i hade such thing... Laughing I Thing i had it...

I know that you can´t fix such unit with 35$....

I thank you for your fast reply and see forward for another... J.Haverland Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I believe the ones sent to Europe were all 220 volt and PAL. I've got a couple of 220 V power supplies that I'd throw in at no charge (except for shipping). Video processing is done on the 9-700 board. There were different chips depending on where the set was sent.

The 9-848 board is $150 plus shipping. I'd ship the board, I'd risk breaking the transformer wires if I unsoldered the transformer from the PC board. Shipping would be about $40, $55 with the power supply board that I'd throw in for free.

Have you a layout cyrcit Page of the Projektor Model ... for some Reason it help´s ...
And whatá about the Focus and screen Board it is a Set of 2 Things the grey Block and a Black peace with 6 Potis in it..
can you tell me a Price of it to.

Another thing to remember when replaceing a blown Horz output transistor is to check for poor solder joints in that circuit, especially the Horz drive transformer. Also when it blows it can take out some of the caps in that circuit as well. Good Luck.

Curt,

the "specs" I posted indicate that there was a "Metropolis Image One Multi" that was PAL and NTSC capable.

I would assume that there would be some kind of label on it though.

My first beamer also was a Image1, i bought it in Mannheim Wink

My Model was a Pal/NTSC Model. A Big sticker with "PAL/NTSC" was an on the back on the crt.

But u can also test it, the are a few buttons on the crt, i think it was the one button next to the power button. Press it once and the crt goes of. Switch em back on again and when u get an black/white picture, it is a multinorm beamer Wink

regards
Chris
