|
|
I just bought a used HD700 that had recently been serviced by Dwin. However, it will not come out of standy mode. I've fed it various video signals and tried to use the remote to turn on the projector but that little green light on the front of the unit simply keeps blinking on and off - standby mode. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciiated.
Thanks,
Bruce

If I remember right, the HD700 needs negative sync. What are you feeding it?

Thanks for your reply.
I tried feeding it a composite video signal from a VCR and also S-video from a DVD player through a dwin transcanner using RGBHV cable. I also attempted to use the remote to turn on the projector or to generate any kind of internal test pattern but the projector simply remains in standby.

Sounds like the power supply might be bad.

I thought of the power supply also. It's a little strange. The projector seems to be in such good condition, very clean with new tubes. It looks almost brand new. Are the Dwin's known for having problematic power supplies?

Considering most DWINs are installed in clean HTs, there's nothing surprising about that.. it's not like they run on oil and gas..
Try this:
Unplug the unit, plug it in. The green LED is supposed to flash slowly.
Upon turnon, it's supposed to go solid.
If there's an overload or defect sensed, the set will power down and the green light will flash rapidly.

I tried several times to unplug the unit and then plug back in. The green light continues to flash slowly, not rapidly. Does that mean it's not a bad power supply?

That means it's not getting out of standby mode. Could be a bad remote, IR sensor, ?
I can test the remote for you if you want, I have a working DWIN 700 here.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think it's the remote because the remote seems to operate the Transcanner just fine. I guess it's possible it's the projector's IR senseor but according to the Dwin700 manual, the projector should automatically come out of standby mode when a video signal is received. I fed it a signal through the Transcanner but the projector remained in standby. It's a mystery.

Hm. If you fed it with the Transcanner, it should have been in the right format (sync, whatever) for the projector. Maybe there's something wrong in the video input section?

I think the auto turnon needs to be set in the internal projector menus, so I don't know that it will fire up with a video signal. Mind you, I don't know these DWINS as well as other sets. I thought there was an option for that in the menus though?

You're correct about that. Auto turn on needs to be selected from the menu. However, since I can't turn on the projector, I can't access the menu. I guess it could be the remote, but as I posted earlier, the remote seems to work fine with the Transcanner. However, I did have to program the remote to operate the TRanscanner. There was a code provided in the TRanscanner manual that I used for the programming. The manual for the projector did not list any program codes for the remote. The manual simply refers to the remote as if no additional programming is necessary. It is the original universal remote that came with the projector. Are you aware of any codes that are necessary to program the remote for the projector? Thanks.
