heard and seen arc in chassis near red tube
projector has scan fail light on and loud squeal from power supply
unplug deflection board at power supply squeal stops still scan fail
plug deflection board in and unplug coil module squeal stops still scan fail
would this indicate a bad deflection board or a bad coil module
i think a bad hv lead caused arc

Chances are the convergence driver or output board is bad, that's very common after an HV arc. Unplug the convergence board completely, and I'll bet the set wil fire up fine without it (but without convergence of course).
Let me know!

thanks curt for the reply
tried unhooking convergance board and driver board
no go still scan faill light
no tube activity power supply still squeals
the arc was from red tube area to possibly the deflection coil wires
any other suggestions would be of great help
all 3 g2 lights are also on

Ok, now it's going to be a bitch..
I'll suggest a bad deflection board then, the squeal indicates an overload on the SMPS. At this point you need to trace the circuits or swap boards. If you have access to neither, then send me the SMPS and the deflection board and I'll test/repair them here.
The 7XX series are known to die instantly when there's a serious HV arc, the closeness of everything to the HV leads/supply can nuke all sorts of stuff compared to the larger chassis where there's room to breathe, and the odd HV arc does nothing.
