Is the Quick Reply "Submit" button on the wrong side?
Yes. You should move it to the left. You're not nuts. I keep clicking on the wrong thing as well!

Is it just me, or do every time you post a quick reply do you inadvertently almost click on the "Preview/Go Advanced" button on the left instead of "Submit" on the right?

Was thinking of changing the order of the buttons and putting submit on the left.

Or am I just nuts?

If it's any consolation (to myself), I think I've realized why I do this: Every other forum I frequent has the buttons reversed. Smile

Sounds like someone needs to hire an illegal daylaborer to do your mouse clicking. Very Happy

Well Kal, I guess when you're old, you do go for the big button. Maybe if you make the "submit" button bigger, you won't misshit Shocked it. You could make the submit button big enough so that when your mouse goes to its present position it won't be on the preview button.

You could just get better glasses. You could take a memory class. Might help...really.

If you change sides, you may be the only one that it helps. You really need to check the poll after there's more than you and I on it. I know changing sides will really screw me up. See, I have them memorized so I don't even need my glasses.

Maybe you should move spellcheck too before everyone gets it memorized. Anyone using spell check goes to the preview button anyway. That's how you get to spellcheck...isn't it? Maybe if you move spellcheck down so that you have 3 buttons, you won't have to make submit bigger. It will be just moved over.

Hope these are helpfull suggestions. Let me think on it some more.

Laughing

Hey Walt!

Good idea about adding a spellcheck button here too... I was just thinking about it. I was surfing some other forum that we all know well and the buttons are laid out:

Submit ------ Preview ------- Spellcheck

That sounds like a good way to do it (at least to me), but what I do I know. Smile

submit- preview- spellcheck
sounds good, unless you can find a way to allow individual users to automatically enable spellcheck as a default to all submissions in the user profiles? ( for those who want to enable it)

Oops - Typo. I meant to say most forums do:

Submit ------ Go Advanced ------- Spellcheck

(The Advanced edit screen has preview built in).

Jask: There's no way to implement auto spellcheck with the addon I used. It's really a standalone separate app. Sorry! If ever the roll spellchecking into the base product then maybe they'll make it possible (but don't hold your breath).

The idea of prview fist is a go one...

its a logical order...

Preview so you dont post wit loads of mistakes that then get "quoted" and you cant change them.....

Submit - your finally happy and ready for the world to see

Spell check should actually be at the start or middle NOT after submit.....

Kal

So the glasses and memory class are out? How did Wan get between us?

I don't go to that other site much any more so I don't remember how the buttons are laid out.

Personally I like Ferret's idea for one LARGE button above and one LARGE button bellow (above and below, my idea) whatever way you lay out the other three, to take you immediately to "Pete's Naked Women". You might find that that button gets worn out.......Oh wait, it's just imaginary, isn't it. My bad.

What ever way you decide, be careful, you don't want to end up in my stupid thread.

Walt

OO, oo......wouldn't it be neat to just have large "Pete's Naked Women" buttons randomly placed throughout the forum so you wouldn't have to look for them? Should we take a survey?

Ok, so I added a spellcheck button directly on this page in the Quick Reply section (to make things easier) and simply renamed "Preview/Go Advanced" to simply "Go Advanced" and the preview is sort of implied (other forums seem to do this).

I think this makes the most sense. But I'm still nuts.

Very Happy

As soon as Pete gives me a bunch of photos, I'll make a "Pete's Models" page and put a button to it. (seriously!)

Thanks for doing that KAL,

PERFECT position for the spell check button.

Others are better too.

(PS KAL - you could get Petes photos from his site - Hint! Hint!)

Now if you can just put the Submit button where the Spellcheck button is, and move the Spellcheck button down where the Preview button is, and put the Preview button where the Submit button is.

Btw, REAL Men don't use a spellcheck. You don like my spelling, you can ciss my ass! Very Happy

Honestly though, I've never in my life used a spellcheck button on an Internet forum, other than to see what it does.

We could fake the Spellcheck button and have it there to actually re-direct us to Curt & Pete's New Naked Women Room. Very Happy

I still think that SpellCheck and Submit in the Quick Reply box should be reversed since 90% of people just want to do "Submit" ... (This is the way the "A" site does it).
