I would look for a used HD-DVD player, most of them are great upscaling players and can be found cheaply now that HD-DVD is a "dying" format.
Helios and Oppo also come to mind for upscaling DVD's

Well, what kind of connections (component, RGBHV, DVI, HDMI) does your projector have? Also, do you have any type of transcoding capability in your HT (HDMI -> RGBHV, component -> RGBHV)? The answer to these questions could dictate which DVD player.

true, sorry i didnt include that info. i have a converter of some sort that takes my component hookups from my 360 to the 5 bnc cable. i do not have a hd fury or anything like that yet. i am a little standoffish about the hd dvd due to the dying off fact. i was looking to get one before that.

The thing about the HD-DVD player is that it will offer regular DVD upconverting as well. You may be able to find one as cheap or cheaper than a stand alone upconverting player. Although if you don't have an HD-Fury, a DVD player with VGA output would be best. If you decide to keep your 360 in your theatre room, I would get a VGA cable for it, and use that instead of component outputting into a transcoder.
