I just purchased an almost brand new Sony VPH-1271Q and separately a PC-1271 switcher as you recommended.
The switcher has IFB-12 cards in it for HDMI.

1. Do I need to purchase the IFB-3000 line doubler to get an HD 1080i signal to my projector or is one built into this switcher (I know it has a better power supply for line doublers)?

2. Do you have a source for an IFB-3000 if I need it and a best guess of its price?

3. I see you have a new type of lens mount to get a better pic from this series of projector...is this highly recommended? It seems like a good idea before I mount this overweight beast.

4. I need the screws that attach the ceiling mount to the projector, do have these as well or can you give me their thread size so I can get them myself?

Thanks for any insight you can give me.

No you don't need the line doubler to do 1080i, the line doubler is for regular NTSC or PAL sources ( Standard definition TV). The douler take's a 480i (interlaced) signal ( regular Composite or S-video ) and turns it into a doubled signal this is called 480P ( progesive ). The line doulber is great for BETA, VHS, LD, clasic video game systems or any other regular definition source.

Read this CRT primer and the hook up section

Also the IFB-12 card does not do HDMI, it does RGBHV ( same signal as VGA from a computer ) or if you switch it it can do componnet. I'm not sure it can do 1080i over componnet though.

For HDMI you'll need a Moome card

What source will you be using on this projector?

The lens mounts are called Joust adaptors. They can be bought here from this web site but I would stick with the curent lenses and learn your setup first. Better lenses with a badly setup projector are just a waste of money.

The bolt's for the celing mount I'm not sure on. Some one else will know.

Here's the Sony 12xx series download page. Grab the install manual if you don't already have it and also check out the The 'Mooneyass' Sony 1270Q Setup and Operation Manual it's good reading for one of these projectors.

How many hours do you have on it?

The projector has 450 hours.
My Source will be DTV HD, my editing system, and my PS3 and X-Box 360.
Thanks for the info on the line doublers.
The IFB-12 cards are just RBGHV as you stated.
I can get a 1080i signal out of that from my DTV....but I am aware that their newer boxes do not contain an RGB out anymore.

"editing system" is rather unspecific.
We would have to know what signals your editing system can output (I assume you want to use the PJ as a preview monitor).

Some systems only offer Composite video, S-Video or SD Component video out for previews (Avid Mojo e.g.), others offer SDI out on top of that (Mojo SDI), and the top of the line systems offer VGA, HD-SDI and DVI out (Adrenaline or Nitris).

I'm on a final cut pro HD mac g5 editing system...I have a 2 monitor set-up already with a separate HD monitor to view my outputs.
I'm using a Kona card for my outputs.

I guess either a Kona LH or Kona 3.
Both will have analog component outputs and HD-SDI out.

Within a reasonable price range only Component HD will work for you.
You'll need a transcoder like Kim's RTC2200
