Ran up my PS3 some months ago using multi AV socket first off.
Then switched to the Component lead.
Then switched to HDMI when I received my HD Fury.
Tested the Fury through the PC VGA socket on my tv and the PS3 spotted it and asked if I wished to use the deteced HDMI source.

Said yes and all ok.

Setup was not the final way it would be as I have to use the component socket on my TV for 1080i so using the VGA socket was only a test point for the Fury.

Now I could do with switching the PS3 back to component but the display settings "wizard" on the PS3 won't allow me to to just set the output to component without testing the resolution.

This is causing a black screen when it tests despite the fact that I switch the TV to the component chanel during the testing in order to try and continue through the wizard to be able to save the new setting.

Is there a way to just force the PS3 to use the component output rather than go through the whole process of display / resolutions / audio before finishing and saving.

Short of a hard reset which will most likely loose all data on the HDD I don't really know what to do.

Any ideas why I can't get the PS3 screen up during the testing part even when I switch the TV the right chanel.

I have the Component lead already plugged into the PS3 and into the component chanel on my TV.
As well as the HDMI plug as I'm obviously in that mode when I'm tryign to swap to the Comp.

Not sure it that is releveant (HDMI taking precedent?)

Cheers

Dean
