It's local but i don't think it'll fit in the trunk of my car. Is that a fair price for a 1270Q?
It seems to be it would be a major step up from my poor 1020 | well first of all it's a 1272, much better than a 1270. Secondly, like the old saying goes, you need to check the tubes newb. Especially the blue, If the blue is burnt then it's not difinitely not worth $600. If the tubes are in good shape, and considering the ceiling mount is worth 100 bucks, then go over with $500. cash and I bet it's yours.
Defientely a nice upgrade from the 1020. You can now get a Fury or even a Moome card and watch true HD

Don't assume until you have measured, The 12xx series projectors really aren't that big.

Oh. Okay. The tubes were the first thing I asked about, how many hours, and if the glycol was clear. Which series tubes does it have? I know this one is an 8." If it's burnt, how much should i expect to replace it?
For some reason I've been under the impression that the other sonys are huge monsters. We'll see what the guy has to say.

$600 is way too much imo. I got my original 1270 for free, and another 1251 with a bad PS for $50. A 1272 just sold locally on ebay for $51. I think if he waits it out, he can find one much cheaper. Also, other than point convergence, I don't think a 1272 is much better than a 1270. The 1270 even has color corrected lenses, while the 1272 can have HD-8s. Also, it looks like the remote is missing...

I'd say that if the tubes are burnt you would do well to avoid that projector. Even with minty fresh tubes it seems high to me. However since it is local to you it may be worth it. I bought my 1270 for $56 with perfect tubes, and a 1251 with 875 hours and 1042 together for $76. I think you should seek a better deal. If that 1272 is in awesome condition I would offer no more than $400.

I would give between 3-400 if the tubes are minty and it comes with all the stuff you will need (remote, cables, mount etc.)

I would be VERY suprised if it gets any bids at that price.
Hopefully the seller will relist it for .99 cents no reserve and you can get a deal

So would $200 be a good deal?
The guy says he has it sitting on his patio, the tubes don't look burned. :'(
I couldn't bear the thought of it getting wet and dying...
What should I look for in particular, with this model?

If you go and look at it you should pull the lenses and check the tubes. Also if it has been sitting outside make sure it powers on and responds right, if it doesn't power up flip it on it's side; if water drips out walk away
$200 is a good price if the tubes are good, worlds better than a 10xx set

Look for wear on the blue CRT, that is where it will be apparent. Check the hours also. If it has been sitting outside that is not good either. However, my 1270 that I got for free was sitting in a guys barn for who know how long, had bird crap on it and everything, and it worked and still does to this day. If the tubes are in good shape, I suppose it might be worth $200 to you. Maybe.

Damn tough machines. I took mine down some stairs solo going thump, thump, thump. Then pulled it up using a piece of rope going thump, thump, thump.
I also took it on vacation 6400Km round trip. Had one small hicup. HV shut down on a day with 100% humidity. I dried it off and no other issues to this day. I've run it at 40deg C in my appartment too. They are a great little machine.
