Well, I went on from the focus coil problem, wired up my 8000 and zap sparks from the red tube.
So I disconnected the HV lead for the red and the green and blue seem to work good. (the picture is all screwy but I think I can fix that).
Then I took a closer look at the red tube and the cable was broken off at the boot.
Someone had tried to silicone it up before but it didn't work.
I have resoldered the wire and the connection is good now.
My question is has anybody tried using the rubber dip stuff that you can buy for tools?
My thinking is that this would work at least as good as the silicone if I can get it all sealed up good.

Hello

You are trying to contain 34,000 volts with bathtub seal and it is not going to be reliable. The next arc could hit the scan yoke and kill your horizontal board. Get a new wire and rubber cup assembly and do it right.

Thanks Tim,
I got my marquee in a box and i want to make sure it is all working before I throw in my set of good tubes.
I was just going to get the red going and make sure everything else worked right first.
That and I am getting frustrated with having to keep ordering more parts and waiting for Canada Post to get off their butts and deliver them.
Wink Crying or Very sad Wink
But aren't we holding the same 34k in when we seal the boot to the tube?
I guess we also have to deal with mechanical failure here from the boot being moved around hey?

But I guess now I am looking for a boot and cable.
Anyone in Edmonton have a spare for cheap?

Okay so I decided to just try the other better red that I have....And then I discovered it doesn't even have a hv lead attached.
Then I checked out my other "good" tubes and the boots are broken on all of them. So I am short 4 leads.
Is there any easy way to see if there is anything else majorly wrong with the tubes before I go and replace all the leads?
Next question how much are leads worth?
Man this is starting to get expensive for a free projector.
