Will the vim form an 8000 work in a 9500? or are the pinouts different?

Yes, they slide right in, and incidentally, the vaunted "03" VIM can often be found in the 8000's...AFAIK, there is virtually no difference between VIM's between the various iterations of the Marquee in a given year. The different VIM revisions were chronological, primarily.

Quoted from Curt Palme:

"A bunch of the 8000 VIMs can't be used in the 8110/8500 anyways. The test patterns go all strange, ie, the all white screen won't show at all, the stepped gray scale is screwy as well. Seems Marquee boards are backwards compatible, but not forward compatible in a lot of cases."

If you have an early version 8000/9000 50-2005-03P VIM, remove it and immediately put it in the trash. It is junk!

That VIM has a ton of issues. To name a few:

- it has a terrible and unstable sync section.

- it was a bad board design.

- it had a problem with maintaining constant and consistent levels, which result in it not being able to maintain a color balance.

- it has a ton of resistors that needs to be replaced in an attempt to bring it up to par.

- it was terribly noisy.

Of all the tech literature and bulletins ever made on the Marquee, that VIM has the absolute most upgrade parts of them all.

Repairing one of these VIM's would be like repairing a $.20 cent light bulb... you're not going to make it happen and it's not worth it...

I agree with you mike its not worth it ( i figure it needs about 100 dolars worth of chips and other parts Alone!! Not including the hours to take out the old chips , put in the new chips and test the board after each change)but if you are just learning about electronics and this Hobby its a great board to see how far it can go. I have the 2035-03p board but didnt want to do any work on it untill i have honed my soldering skills and learned a few things along the way after i blew my CLM board trying to add the parts you sent me for it last year. Now i am Much better at soldering an learned the hard way about polarized caps Surprised Pop!!! and Poof!!!! Bye bye CLM. Any ways regaurding the CLM Where did you get those 270k inductors? I cant find them any where in that small of a case size.
And thanks for your inspiration I love this hobby because of most of you here on the forums.
