My 8111+ has been sitting in my closet for the last 2 years. Our family is part owners of a local Pizza establishment, and they asked if they could borrow my PJ. I guess they didn't realize what was really involved in transporting, setting up, and calibrating the beautiful beast.
Instead, I suggested for convenience and because of ambient light, that they use my digital PJ.
Have any of you been asked to setup your CRT PJ at another residence or business for the SuperBowl?
I wish I could use her again, but its just not feasible any longer! Oh the good old days!

Almost every year, my wife suggests taking ours over to her parents for the SuperBowl, and I explain that it's just too much trouble. Even the digital is too much trouble, because I would also have to provide the HD antenna, tuner, screen, sound system, etc. She just doesn't realize it's not just a projector that provides the home theater experience. Lucky for me, she and her family are not that interested in either of this years participants.

I've got a JVC G15 DILA (http://www.projectorcentral.com/JVC-DLA-G15U.htm) that I use when family/friends/church/neighbors ask for a remote event.
Contrast is only 300:1, but 1500 lumens, 1365x1024 native resolution, accepts 1080i/720p component without a transcoder. Only 32 pounds. Focus in 10 seconds. I've tried it in my HT... weak PQ comparison to CRT, plus it cranks out out heat and fan noise like a hair dryer. But I only paid $155 for it (and then $111 for a 2nd spare unit).
We set it up outside at a neighbors house for the first round of the playoffs, double-header Redskins then the Steelers game. 38 degrees and it started raining, but with a couple of firepits and a few beers, it was a lot of fun. When it rained, I just draped a jacket over the pj and let the lens stick out. There's no way I'd set up a CRT outside or for a one-night setup.

i did it once and never will again. I did a down a dirty setup using acon on my marquee it worked ok but was far from perfect. The reality is the average person has no clue what it should look like anyway. it is just to heavy to lug around an 8000 or any crt for that mater. also where the hell do you put it you have it sitting on a floor this thing is huge people tripped over it twice. I am surprised they did not kill themselves.
digital is much better for this kind of thing but true pq is crt all the way!!!

I have set up one 12xx or another at my friend's restaurant for super bowl night for the last 3 years now. They pay me $85 for one night. They supply the screen(BO cloth) and I supply the projector and set it up. They usually draw a fairly large crowd since it is a 120" diagonal 4:3 screen they use.
For me it's worth it, since it only takes me about an hour to set it up. And, even with a damn S-Video input on that large a screen, most o the customers still think its awesome.. Too bad they can't see a REAL setup lol.

I've done the quick setup in other peoples appartments here. I ran a quick S-video off the DVD player and watched their faces. (Kal, we need an emoticon with a droped jaw-AR)
Then I scalled the same movie with the HTPC and all of them could tell a difference. They loved it. Still not one of the cheap bastages bought one though.

I wouldn't consider doing it here, much less moving it elsewhere. Football will never taint my projector, in any location.
