Who bid $6600 for the G90 in Florida with 9000 some-odd hours on it, supposed no wear on the tubes, coming from one of those drop-off-and-we-sell-it places?

I was gonna bid $3K, but yeah, like I had a chance.. Mr. Green

With the various issues of the G90, any 9000 hour+ chassis, $6600 is insane. To me anyways.

Does someone know something that I don't, like it was retubed 50 hours before it got pulled from service?

WTF? I'd like to hear the logic of that bid price from whomever won - especially when there is at least one other G90 for sale in pristine condition, being sold by informed buyer, with known (excellent) tube condition. I definitely don't get it.

My point exactly. I know I used a similar strategy the other day to sell some stuff recently, I started the bidding at $10.00 no reserve for something I expected to go for $275, but ended up with $311 for it. Maybe I should do the same with other projectors? but that strategy scares me for something that I have say $1000 into..Sad

I think there's something to be said for a lower starting point. If you set it too high and don't get bids, people wonder why no one's bidding on it and it discourages them from bidding. If they see others are bidding, they'll be more intrigued to look into it for themselves. You always have reserve prices and you can even pull stuff if need be.

Hey,

Whoever bought the Resident Evil Tote bag for $72 that I got free from Best Buy with purchase of RE3 on Blu Ray ... that's who lost thier ebay mind. (Though they left me positive feedback,.. whoo hoo!)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320203356527&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT&ih=011

Or the matchbox car I got from Disney for $3.50 with a code from the Blu Ray that I resold on ebay for $49.00,.. another case of lost mind.

Last week was great! I wish I had crap like that to sell all the time.

Curt,
Advertise your units as a rare collectable and limited documented number (serial number) no longer available. You might actually get what they should bring. Doug

Ha,

The serial number proves it was limited,... certainly collector's items.

Just a little behind in the times. Five years ago you'd have blown someone for a $6,600.00 G-90 in any condition Wink

It doesn't surprise me at all...EBay is weird..People pay way too much for stuff. At one time you could get bargains but not anymore.

My brother is a commercial photographer he will often buy a piece of equipment just to try it out. Most of the time he can sell it on Ebay used for just a few bucks less then he paid for it if he doesn't like it, I don't get it myself.

I think the no reserve auctions might be the key; people get caught up in the moment and loose there head.

Mike

Oops! Looks like you got screwed Brian! Whoever you sold them to probably re-sold them on ebay for a profit. Wink

Phil,

Considering the RE thingie was Free and the Cars thingie cost $3.50,... I think I did fine. I do realize some go for more.

Also note the cars auction you posted was for 4 which means they sold for just as much as mine did ,.. $50/each.

Some of those cars thingies went up to $80 or $100 though but they are sinking back down now as lots of people who ordered them for the $3.50 are getting theirs in the mail.

6600 is a reasonable price fora non "wholesale" machine if its condition is as desribed and accurate.

Considering a CP G90 will cost at least 7500

Curt, you have to remember that you buy your machines "wholesale" - the rest of the world have to pay full price most of the time. In July last year, I saw a series of G90s (sub 1000 hour) go for 12k, 10k and 11k. The market might be a bit slow right now but supply is drying up too.

If I was in the market for a G90, I would pay 10k for a mint one from you. So, 6600 isn't too bad Wink

Brian,

Oops! You're right. I did find one that sold for $85 though: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130189510078

I was just goofin' on you anyway. It's hard to get absolute top dollar for an ebay auction item, when many identical items are being auctioned at the same time. You have to be very, very lucky.

$6,600.00?!!!!!!!! Damn! I had one of my spare G90s listed twice on Ebay starting at $4,999.99. It had 3,000hrs (a third of the one for $6,600.00) with tubes pics (green 7, blue 8, red 9+) and it didn't even get a bid!!!!!!! I have been a member here, and avs for long time as well as an Ebay member with impeccable feedback, so I'm a little disappointed at the moment. I did end up selling it to gentlemen overseas for $5,000.00 and it ships out this week.

Damn!!!
