To the ceiling that is.
I have 2 1272 projectors. I am planning on redoing my theater and turning it 90 degrees clockwise. When I do this I will do a new screen in 16:9 instead of my 4:3. I am doing this so I have a better sound stage, 2 rows of seating, a bigger area for the HT, and better flow to the room.
Projector #1 - 2800 hours, you can tell where some wear is pretty easily, but I have been using this projector for 2 years so I know it is pretty stable. I would rate the blue tube a 7. I also have all the mods for the lenses and tubes to make them variable.
Projector #2 - 2400 hours, these tubes look pretty damn good for 2400 hours. I started up this projector and let it run for an hour to make sure everything worked ok. I will need to make the mods to adjust the tubes and lenses. I would rate the blue tube an 8, although there are a couple lines on the edges that look a little darker, like a 7. I think this may be where the akb line was.
The greens look pretty good in both and of course the red looks great in both.
So, which one should I mount in the new position, and which one should I store away for the spare?

They sound pretty comparable to me. If you've got one already all set up with the mods and you know everything works well because you've been using, just use that one and keep the other for a backup.

Keep using your main machine and in the mean time mod the extra machine so it is good to go when the wear on the first one makes you want to swap.

When you remount the first one, plan ahead so you can do a stack after you get the mods done on the second one.

WAF low on that one. Would be cool, but not gonna happen.
I think I will go ahead and use the one I have been using.
Thanks.
