This isn't in the spec section of my site, and should be added. What is the difference between the Runco 1100 and the 1101? Both are Barco 1209s chassis, the 1100 I have here has colored C elements and convergence on green board installed, so that's as high end as a Barco 1209s can get, right?
I read an ebay ad recently for an 1100 that was sent to Runco for repairs and was 'upgraded' to an 1101, so let me know what the difference is..
Thanks!

from Runco's website:
| Code: | SUPER HDTV
DTV-1000 ULTRA PROJECTOR
When the state-of-the-art in video reproduction is the only thing that will do, the RUNCO DTV-1000 is the only choice for discerning videophiles. This digital HDTV ready projector features super bright 9-inch CRTs, and an automatic convergence system that is superior to the conventional convergence process. With an incredible 1,250 lumens of light output at 10% of peak white, now truly cinematic size screens can be driven by a single projector.
The DTV-1000 also incorporates Runco’s latest enhancement to color purity; Runco’s exclusive AccuChroma, color filtering of the Red and Green tubes. Runco’s DTV-1000 redefines the state-of-the-art in home theater video reproduction, and with HDTV on the horizon the DTV-1000 will make high definition images come alive on your screen.

They scan to 75 or 90 kHz. This means they have a lowered scan frequency compared to the BG1209s' 130khz.
One, or both, might be based on the BarcoData1209s model. That is a BG1209s that scans to 79khz, so it lacks the scan reverse switch board in the CRT-cover. (Which is not a bad thing, in my opinion).
I have seen one BD1209s in person, and it actually scans a bit higher than specified.
Before everyone thinks of it as a lesser projector because it does not scan to 130khz, because of the less complicated electronics, in theory, it might actually be a better projector. 79khz is more than enough for 1080p@72hz.
Critical factor is the 120Mhz video bandwidth, which both the BD and the BG1209s have.
See what chassis number it has on the silver sticker on the back, (if Runco's have that sticker.) and look it up in the Barco Excel sheets. That will tell you a lot.

Gotcha, thanks! I thought this one has the 120 Mhz boards, I'll double check based on your info.
Cheers!

The Runco 1100 that I had here was limited to 1080P60 and would not do 1080P72. I believe that this is something that Runco did in firmware as they paired these units w/ Faroudja DVP5000's which were limited to 1080P60.

Exactly right.
This is exactly like my 75Khz scanrate limited Zenith 1200 which is actually a Cine 8 Onyx which does around 120Khz max. Both machines however have 120Mhz bandwidth which is the important part. Same hi-bandwidth neckboards.

I think the ad was on Videogon and If that is the one you are referring to, I picked up that proj today. I am looking at the invoice for this upgrade (1100 to 1101) and in 2001 Runco charged about $1100 to do component input modifications and firmware updates. The (Runco) tube part numbers seem to be the same for both 1100 and 1101, so the upgrade was just the input mod and firmware update. Unfortunately, the invoice does not provide the kind of detail you are looking for. Also of interest, Runco charged only $300 in labor (4 hrs) to install new tubes and do the 1100 to 1101 upgrade back in 2001 with the total charge including new tubes- a cool $9000.

WEll considering their tube costs were $1200 per tube back in 2000, the profit was in the parts. If they charged $1100 to do mods, then they were indeed minor. Maybe a software upgrade, but not much else.
