hi, my pj will do only 1080i(sony1031q) so i am wondering what my best "end result" dvd player would be, because i am unable to process 720 or 1080p should i just go with a "upscaling" dvd player and continue to use regular dvd disc "upscaled" to 1080i or will i get a benefit from using a "hd/br" player with hd/br disc set to 1080i output ?

I use a Oppo DV971H to upscale the image to 720p on my 1271QM (or rather my 1251 the missing 20 of the 1271QM).
Works like a charm... If you plan to upgrade to a 1080p beamer in the near future I would by a HD/BR set but for now I wouldn't
