I got lucky.

My Christmas bonus was 250 bucks and so I went to Best Buy, looking for a deal. And I found one, a Sony BDP-S300
open box item, complete, for 249 bucks.

Sold.

I did have to get an HDMI to DVI adapter to use my existing DVI cable run to my Marquee (with Moome DVI card)
but so what...another 35 bucks.

The player does take a little while to load up, but I can live with that.

The picture is fantastic. I've had a really good picture for a long time now, but comparing Blu-Ray discs
of movies that were mastered in HD to upscaled DVDs is like properly focusing the system for the very first time.
The difference is not subtle.

My criticisms of the unit are few and far between. But...the picture width is narrower than on any other source I use,
including my HD cable box's DVI output to the same input card on the PJ. (I'll have to get a switcher.)

I'd like to widen up the picture on the 300 but don't know of any such controls in the menus, and I looked. Maybe
there's a secret menu?

There are also multiple colorspace options to choose from. How am I to know what's the right one to use?

I've been encouraging everyone to take the leap = HD really IS better, isn't it?

CJ - Try changing the retrace from short to long or vice versa - that has been the solution for some.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new video source!!
