Hello,

I have two problems with my newly acquired Barco Graphics 808s. The tubes are white with no wear, sharp and bright. But I have some glowing at the lower side of all tubes. The attached picture is made without lens in table mount position. This aurora can be seen an all inputs and even if I mute the picture. If I disconnect the source and have no on-screen menu shown, the glow flares more (from side to side), but it is never gone. Brightness, contrast and G2 controls have no influence and the raster is much smaller of course. And it is the same on all tubes.

The second problem is shown in the second picture. It looks like the tubes are just to energized. As soon as some brighter contents are shown, the unused area glows up also. I know this is an AC projector, but it is much heavier then on my old Sony 1252. The picture doesn't give the best impression, but it really looks like the full phosphor is glowing up. The glycol looks absolutely clear.

TV/Projector: All of them!

All of this is pretty much normal. I think (but am not sure) that the first pix with the glow at the bottom of the tube is the AKB circuit working, a lot of Barcos do this. When the pic is muted, you get this flicker at the bottom of the tube(s)

The halo around the tube is normal, you can duplicate this with a Marquee as well.

Thx for the reply.

Well, some BG808s users have confirmed me, that a small glow is visible on the bottom if no source is connected. But with a source this glow is gone. They also say, that this normal glowing is much darker and smaller than the one I have.

if this were deflection failure as can happen with NEC XGs, the set would shut down and you'd get no image. You're fine!

This was the right tip. Smile

I just turned the AKB switch off and the glow is away now. I will have to adjust G2 and see if everything works right without AKB.

No, it is the second CRT. I had a Sony 1252 before (and it has a thin AKB line, that you can't turn off).

Lars

EDIT: It is actually the third. I also had a Sony 1270.
