Shocked

Is that a joke, or is there truly that kind of thing happening? If it happens, is it common? Those values are totally different - wouldn't the issue become plainly obvious when the circuit wouldn't work as designed?

Hard to say is that joke or real.. I just postet that link from e-mail that i got. Topic of that e-mail was something about Chinese quality Rolling Eyes
But that is not uncommon that there are "pirate" components on market.

The ruby is a 2200uF, the "master" is a 6800: definitively a joke! Smile

Possibly someone wanted to maintain the 'look' of the chassis by hollowing out the old cap and putting in a new one, but underrated caps and at a lower voltage is a really BAD idea.

Still, if you look at the size of current caps and say 20 year old caps, they've gone down about 25% in size. No way a manufacturer would pull that stunt off as shown in the pix.

what if it's for some audio products, and the circuits are actually designed for the lower ratings?
Putting in higher capacity parts makes them look like they are of higher quality Wink

I don't know the brand name "MASTER" (I think they're cheap?) but Rubycon is a well respected name.

Likely someone's doing a reverse joke in saying that a Rubycon 35V/2200MFD is equivalent in spec to a cheaper brand 50V/6800MFD??
