My Ampro 4600 HVPS has officially bit the dust ;(

I have been nursing it along for around a year. I am getting HVPS Shutdown problems and in the past have been able to remove the HVPS, wire brush the solder connection on all the boards, put it back together, and it would work.

The first time I did this is worked for 4 months or so before the problem returned. The second time around 2 months, the third work for around 3 weeks and so on and so on. Now I can only get it to work for around 5 minutes before it starts again.

SO, my question is does anyone have a HVPS for a Ampro 4600 they are willing to part with?

I am in need, as always seems the case, because family is coming over for Christmas and I really need the projector up and running before the holidays.

Thanks in advance.

why not just try re-soldering all the connections, that is, re-flow the solder. maybe you did damage to the solder joints by wire brushing them. that is something i would never do!!!

It is likely a bad solder joint inside the HVPS.

If you take it apart and re-flow the solder on the internal connections it will probably work. You messing with it joggled the connections enough to make them work, but for less and less time.

OK I'm really concerned about Pete. There are several Ampro threads going on and he has yet to comment on any of them. Has anyone heard from him since he and Clarance had their last get together? Where are you Pete??

Wait a second I know where the 4600's supply went. I think a certain Ampro pirate got it. I've seen him around here. Wink

Well, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure he's not bunking with Jimmy Hoffa Laughing
