Looks like my good ole' Sony VPH-1270Q finally bit it.

When powering on, the projector will emit a high-pitched beep then immediately power off.

Opened it up and checked the Y, DA and DB boards. I noticed that I only heard the single beep error when the DA board was inserted, and I have had problems with the DA board flaking out on me in the past, which leads me to believe that the DA board is toast.

The only other thing I can think of is replacing the fuse beneath the front power plug. (Although when I remove it, the projector won't power on at all.)

Any suggestions? Should I send the boards to Curt?

Thanks a bunch!

It is not the fuse, if it had failed it would have the same effect as when you removed it, no power gets through. Wink

Where are you located? Maybe someone here has an "L" board they could lend you to plug in and get the specific error code:)

First thing first.. check to see if all the fans spin up.. including the ones on the back of the power block, but NOT the small one in the center-rear.. it needs to run, but will not shut the set down if it stops.

There is no buzzer in the 1270, so I'm guessing what you're hearing is a short somewhere, causing either the power supply or one of the coils on the H board to 'chirp'.

Teh problem with the 1270 is that there is no error code. Does the chirp come from the LVPS under the lenses or from one of the back boards?

An error board out of a 1251 works in my 1270. I plugged it in and stopped one of the fans from spinning, and it brought up the correct error code.

Yes, there are no buzzer in Sony 12xx.

When Sync is lost there is some kind of chirp coming from somewhere inside the 12xx. I remember it when I had a faulty DA board that does not sync correctly.

Maybe this can help

Never tried an error board in a 1270 before, but man, if that works, that's a real lifesaver. I see a demand for error LED boards in my near future..Wink
