Oh, come on... it would have taken at least, what... 3 whole more minutes to have just *unplugged* everything. I mean, what an inconvenience that would have been. The moron isn't even smart enough to know that he'd get more money for it in tact.
It would be like a car parts salvager going around and cutting hoods and trunks off cars with a chop saw...

Yeah but he/they justified it with this line:
3) Used, Pulled, Good: Pulled from a working unit, and because of propietary design, the complete working unit was demanufactured, and the parts sold.
So it appears he was LEGALLY bound to go at it with a pair of linemans.

Thanks,
Erik | yes it could but you don't really want to go there. Just get one from VDC, it's only $650.

Draganm,
I know the new ones from VDC are $650 a piece but that is more than I have into my entire theater up to this point.
I understand that it would be easier to just get one that way but money for toys is tight and I just can't justify spending that much on a $25 machine.
Thanks,
Erik
Btw. is it a direct swap or would I need to do a neckboard mod

that logic doesn't make sense. What if someone gave you a nice sports car for $100. but all 4 tires were bald. Would you say, "I'm never going to spend $600. on new tires becauee the whole car only cost 100 bucks". I guess i'll just let it sit in the driveway forever.

The logic doesn't have to make sense.
I flat out don't have the money to get new tubes, right now I'm still in high school so I don't attach a great deal of value to my time. If I can get this tube for far less than a new one I have nothing against spending my time to remove the NEC housings and fitting it into my machine.

I like that example, but it my situation I would sell the sports car and use the money to get a car with good tires if I wasn't able to find replacement tires cheap

Erik | hey that option wasn't part of the riddle, you cheated.
Looks like that tube sold for $87.00, not bad I guess if the phosphor is as clean as it looked in that pic. AFAIK, that tube will go into a G70 but you have to cut off the Glycol AC chamber and swap out the Anode lead as well. hopefully the seller is a little smarter next time about "propietarily" destroying a projector to take it apart.

Did you catch that it's not an LC tube?

| Curt Palme wrote: | | Did you catch that it's not an LC tube? | yeah so what? Like I said someone would have to cut off the air-coupled NEC glycol chamber and install the G70's LC assembly onto the bare tube. Sounds like a hell of a lot of work

Well,
I didn't win so all arguements are now VOID
I would have cut the AC chamber off, modified the neck board and installed the tube. Yes it would have been a hell of a lot of work but it's a hobby so who cares.

I wish I was smart enough to understand that when I was in high school. Good for you!
