For how many hours can you resolve 1080p on a M8500, non LC?

Using new tubes with HD144 lenses, freq. at 50/60/(72) Hz, at proper contrast/brightness levels. Using a 'normal' screen size, 84"-96".

Hello

Matsushita magnetic focus tubes have little or no tendency to soften focus with age, so 8000 or more hours is not unexpected.

Hey,

Just to say,.. I had a M8500 before my G70 and one thing I remember about it was incredable sharpess.

I run my G70 at 1080p and resolved fully out the the corners may not be fully accurate but it looks best to me at 1080p. So,.. I bet it's not hard to get a great and very satisfyingly sharp 1080p on a M8500.

Tim, would that be with or without Mr Parker's modds? (Or could one really get 8000 hours at 1080p from an M8500 without MP modds)

I don't think hours make any difference (talking about tubes) however I don't think an 8500 will FULLY resolve 1080p without MP mods

Hi Brain,

But for how long? (I only know about Barco 7xx and NEC 6pg+. and Barco's 7 series degrade over time, more than the 6pg+.)

Tim already answered.

EM tubes don't go soft with age.

From what I understand this is more a "periferal" problem, edge and corner problem. This is the downside with using ES focus machines as well, at lower resolutions.

No that wasn't what he said, really. I know for a fact that EM tubes on a 6pg+ can go soft with age.

My question to him, since he is used with Mr parker's modds, was, pretty much, if his assessment was based on the use of actuall MP modds or not, after all, in the end, it is more than the tubes involved.

My first response was with regards to tube age but MP mods will enhance spot size, image dynamics and video noise floor.

Do I understand you right, that with the M8500, the 1080p resolution doesn't really mean anything concerning for how long you can resolve that resolution? (Like 5000 hour tubes would give you a 1080p image comparable to a 1000 hour tubes, disregarding contrast, color, and everything else but being able to resolve 1080p as far as possible.)

PG+ tubes go soft?

I have PG Xtra tubes, burned to a crisp with 10000+ hours on them that focus up just fine.
