|
|
I understand this a pretty big upgrade for a stock HD10 GT17 lenses in a 9500LC Ultra, but how about for a Sony G90 with HD10F? I may or maynot do a blend in the future, more likely a stack between my Vision One and my G90, but if I dont go the stack route I will likely keep the G90. Is it worth it to upgrade lenses for either a signle G90 or a mixed stack configuration.
thoughts?

everything i've read says the 10F is better than the GT17 lenses.

The 10F lenses are sharper than the Gt17 lenses. The 10F lenses would be better for blend setups as the corner focus is very important. I've had both and done direct comparisons. But I have a personal preference for the GT17 lenses over the 10F......The profile of the curved first element of the GT17 and the 10F is different. The contour of the GT17 first element better matches that of the c-element, reducing reflections back onto the tube face and back to the screen. This effectively reduces that contrast ratio in scenes with both bright and dark content. The reflection is centered around the center of the lense. Anyone with a Windows based HTPC can easily test this. Use the screen save that brings up the small windows logo and moves it around on a black background. If you look into the lense you can see a reflection of the windows logo on the tube face directly opposite to it centered around the center of the tube. If you have a fully light controlled room you can also see it on the screen as a brighter spot on the screen.
I've never seen an HQF 900 lense to compare the first element profile to that of the 10F or GT17, maybe Mike Parker could pull one of these HFQ900 lenses and take a picture similar to the one I have attached of a 10F lense. The GT17 first element protruded from the rear of the lense almost twice as much as that of the HD10.
Chris.

I don't think so but like I said I've never seen an HQF900 so I don't really know. Everything I have heard about the HQF900 lenses makes me think they are more like the 10F lenses as the sharpness is supposed to be amazing.

That's the rumour that was going around at one time - the HQF900 is just a rebadged 10F - but there was also a rumour going around that there were two versions of the 10F.
It would be good to know for sure.

No no... HFQ900 is different to the HD10F.
HFQ900 is a type of HD10E, but not all HD10E's are HFQ900's
