hi all,

i'm new to this, so here it goes...

my brother who works at a college, gave me this sony 1271q a while back, and it came out of a small theater.
i putting it in a small room. i've been doing some research about this and it should work with the spacer mod that i found here.

while trying to install the springs on the "red" side, i was trying to pull the tube out far enough to get the springs on and
accidently pulled the tube out of it's socket.

it made it easier to put the springs on. Rolling Eyes

now i just have to plug the tube back into the socket that seems to be just floating around way the heck in there somewhere.

bummer.

is there a trick to holding the "socket" in place long enough to plug'er in without tearing the whole thing apart?

would appreciate some advice, thanks,

TD.

There's a few screws across the back, a couple up close to the hinges to lock them in place, and a couple more along the sides somewhere - if I remember correctly - probably 8 or so in all. Once that's loose, the whole thing will easily hinge up. Then, there's a single aluminum shield over each neck card - two screws each, I think. Pop that off, put the neck card back on, and you're off to the races. You may as well pop the other two shields, and double-check them while you're at it to make sure neither of those neck cards are loose.

TD
