Hello
Is it possible to by a Barco Retro G808s chassis and use the parts/lens etc to upgrade my1208s to LC?
Is it worthwhile?

Sure, it's possible - how clever are you? You'll need a way to support the tube/LC hardware/lens assembly, top and bottom, in the projector. It's not a bolt in. You give up the standard method of mounting these. And you'll need lenses, unless you're happy with a really small screen. LC lenses, that is - the ever popular HD-144/145's are strickly AC. The HD-114-24 and HD-117-24 will work as will HD-215. Good luck trying to find either. I don't what other - or if there are any other - lenses that will fit. Also, I don't know if a retro comes with colored c-elements, so that's a consideration. I'm told that 3M sells them but I have no idea how to contact them.
People have done this. I have the parts to do it to my 808, including HD-215 lenses and colored c-elements, but I don't know if I really want to right now as I have begun a speaker project that will eat up my time and money. So I'm thinking of selling.
Barco did make a few LC 1208's. They're awfully rare though.

There are also the HD214 which Barco has used for Retro's, which have also as the HD215 no corner focus adjustment on the lens. The HD117 have a corner focus adjustment on the lens.
I am personal interested what the c-element mid-depth is original for a HD215 lens to the mountinglevel of the lens, because for a HD117 is these 36 mm and for a HD214 45 mm.

All I know is that the c-element in the HD-117 that came with my LC hardware and the c-element's I have that came out of a Sony G70 appear to be identical. I guess I don't quite understand what you mean by mid-depth.

If you put a liniaal cross-over from one mounting point of the lens to the other on the LC housing and measuring the dept in the mid to the c-element
