Hi
I am going to check out a secondhand Sony G70Q tonight or tomorrow and
I would like to know what should I look out for.
Are there any problems with the G70?
Thanks

All you really need to check is the tube condition as outlined on the main site in the tips section.
Electronics are not like cars, these projectors can work fine today and something can die tomorrow. Look at the tube wear, that's the expensive item(s), the rest is all repairable and replacable relatively cheaply.

Not sure if you're a noob or not, but if you are, be sure to check out Curt's primer on checking tube condition:

Hi
Thanks for the replys.
Do I have to take the lenses of or would looking through the lens be enough to see any tube burn?
Thanks

USe an LED flashlight to look into the lenses, but the lenses do mask wear. If the seller will let you, take the green and blue lenses off, 4 screws, one in each corner of the lens. That's all you take off. DO NOT go further than that.

Well, you do want to open up the front hood/case so you can get at the screws a LOT easier. (And so you don't drop them inside the case and lose them. Voice of experience. ) To do that, pop the top open, and release the catches inside the back sides of the front hood.

Hi
I checked it out tonight and apart from it being dusty from being forgotten about sitting in a coffe table
It is in MINT condition.
The only thing is they did not have the manual.
I have just put on top of my own coffee table and pulled it back and forth to get the pic pretty right.
Can anyone tell me where I can find the Hours of use display, also How do you select component, I did find where it was in the menu but i was unable to select it.
Thanks

Hit the Menu button and scroll down toward the bottom. Hrs will come up.
You really want to get an hdmi or dvi input card. It makes all the difference in the world over analog.

Have you been able to pull the lenses. If you can't do this look at a full white field and look for discoloration and wear. My G70 had 349hrs. on it when I got it and it still had enough wear to be bothersome time to time

Hi
Ok, Thanks Curt.
I offered him $50 for it but he wanted $100 or nothing, so I diddnt take it.
Thanks for letting me know I could have made an expensive mistake.
Cheers

Take it for $100.00. I'll give you way more than that for the parts in it.

The only way $100 for a G70 wouldn't be a steal is if flames had been shooting out of it or it had been at the bottom of a lake!
