With Directv rolling out more hd channels I want to watch some of my favorite shows in HD on the G70 in the theater.
Problem is that they all display their own watermark/logo somewhere on the screen.
Now, these aren't solid logos like they used to be. They are transparent for the most part.
But they are still static images.
Can I please get some expert opinions (and especially first hand experience) as to whether or not these logos will burn into the phosphor on the crt tubes?
I really, really, really want to watch Heros, Atlantis et al in the theater.
Any thoughts?
thanks

not to mention that there are a lot of decent movies on the others channels that I would like to watch.
Those logos really hack me off.

If you left it on the same channel, all day, every day, then you'd get a burn... like a hotel lobby that leaves the TV on CNN HN or Fox News or the Weather Channel. Or the Windows login window or Start menu, sitting there hour after hour, day after day.
But if you channel surf as much as the rest of us do, I wouldn't worry about it. The graphics change enough from channel to channel and program to program.
Even 3 or 4 hours of logo bugs, scoreboard banners, etc during a football game hasn't been the slightest problem. No worries watching 3 network series, 3 movies, or 3 football games in a row. The bugs do bug me, especially with premium channel movies, but I have no concern about any accelerated, accumulated effect for uneven burn.

I wouldn't worry about it, but you could turn pic orbiting on if you are worried about burn

I guess I didn't realize what pic orbiting was. I thought it was like a screen saver that kicked in when it sensed a prolonged static image, not something that would protect against a certain logo burning in.
BTW, thanks to both for the reply.
It looks like I'll be watching a lot more tv on the projector. Directv just added the sci fi channel in high def - woo hoo!!
