good movie, watched most of it in SD res tonight. funny thing was, the picture seemed to be soft. now it is an older movie, so i took that as the reason.but i think that they did that on purpose, and here's why i think that.

after a key person dies, the movie shows the "newsreel" of his funeral - and of course the newreel is in B/W - this is supposed to be 1939 or so after all. but at the end of the newsreel they umpire shouting "play ball" transitions from B/W to colour as the movie picks up from the newsreel and from that point on, the picture of the movie is markedly sharper.

i wonder if that was on purpose or if i'm just imagining things.
