Does anyone have any thoughts about the JVC d-ila mdl dla g11u projector. Is it any good, and is it very expensive to maintain.
Thanks
Thomas

I'm not getting it for free.
Its at an auction, and I thought about buying it. The bulb life is a huge issue, but I thought the projector might be good, and I would just watch it for movies, and sports. There also is a JVC dla-g15 projector. Is the g-15 better.
Does the picture compare to a digital crt.
Thanks
Thomas

Clarence pretty much said it. Too hot, too loud. I'd add too old and the picture looks pretty bad unless you're not too fussy and just doing large drive-in type movies like Clarence (it's perfect for that sort of large screen/non-critical venue where the audience is all kids or neighbours with a lot of beer in them.

I am guessing you are looking at this. I was going to go to $100, since I will be passing by JAX next week. Anything more and it is not worth it. 720p is now under $1k.

Well, it's definitely not worth it if you have to supply your own heavy metal guitarist.

The G11U isn't all that bad for a cheap 720P projector. I purchased one for back yard movies and I thought that it did rather well. However, the new bulb is rather expensive, but I purchase one brand new on eBay for $178 which was a good buy.
