THese are used on a 1292. I have two sets here only and am about to sell them.

I am assuming HD 10 or HD10L's will work in their place?

What's so special about the 10F's?

Same lenses as used on the G90.As to what is special about them I don't know .I remember reading on AVS that Corning built them for Sony and they would not release any specifications.

Hmm, so those really should be GT-17s then, or at least as good as them? NEws to me, thanks!

Terry says they work better than other lenses he has tried for Torus screens.

No, they are not limited to a specific screen size like the GT17's are (~90-~118"), but are more like a higher quality version of the straight HD10 lens, where they are supposedly good for something like 50"-300"?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello!

I've read in several posts that HD10-F lenses on a 9500LC Ultra work well with torus screens. My understanding is that there are three sets of focus adjustments- scheimpflug, corner focus, and center focus. When setting up for a curved screen, is there a preferred order for setting these?

Also, most curved screens I've read about here have less curvature horizontally and more curvature vertically, which would allow for a prime viewing area wider than it is tall, as if the seating area were a few easy chairs or a wide sofa. If a theater is designed with a very large screen, a relatively small prime seating area and table-mounted projector, wouldn't a spherical screen give the best results?

Thanks, Mark

I like to do mechanical focus first. So do rough centre focus, then rough corner focus, then scheimpflug adjustments, then dial in centre focus, the corner focus again.

Then go to your electrical focus adjustments and adjust centre and corner.

Here's a Mike Parker tip, do these adjustments with contrast higher than normal, i believe he even does it at 90+, that way when you put contrast to normal, everything will be dialed in, and for scenes with high contrast where you might get blooming, the focus should still be sharp.

Another tip, the HD10F's that come on the 1292 are not as good focusing as the HD10F's that come on the G90's.
The HD10F's from the 1292 have a slightly better edge & corner focus that the HD10 GT17's, but not significantly better.

How do you tell where the HD10F lenses came from, if you don't have the original machine? Is there a difference in the model tag, or visible difference elsewhere??

Thanks, Mark

The 10-F lenses off of a 1292 have a piece around the barrel.
