i have a RGBHV to vga cable for my projector and i got a new electrohome ecp 4100... this one has RGBHV.. my last proj had the RGBS... so now i dont know which is H and which one is V sync. they're gray and black. would it damage the projector if i got them mixed up? i feel dumb now

no damage can be done.
hook it up and see if it works. (Suck it and see method) if not, reverse the H and V.
Its been my experience that the cables are layed out in order R-G-B-H-V right at the cable end.

ok cool.. and i shone a flashlight in the tubes.. they look clean, no burns or anything. should that mean they are clean? i don't feel like taking the lenses off right now.
never assume.....

i don't seem to be getting any video, i have my line doubler plugged into slot one and i'm not getting anything. i tried slot 2, still nothing. what am i doing wrong? and i can't get the green squared out, it says you can't move the green, its all mishapen.

it was my understanding that line doublers take 480i in and output 480p.

One of my cables is
H: grey
V: black
And another one is
H: white
V: black
It is not universal as far as color but all the cables I have seen had the cables all flat coming out in the proper order R_G_B_H_V

thanks for the info, i didnt think they were universal either, i got it though, the projector was a pleasure to set up. my sony 2030q1 was like pulling teeth.. i had this one looking perfect in about an hour.
