Hey,

I was just reading another site about a group of people with the new Sony Pearl that had sudden and drastic dimming at 500 hours.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10218040&&#post10218040

Anyway,.. Seems common enough a problem for me to lose any inerest in thinking that if my CRT FP became un-practical I would seek out some ruby-esqe new thing.

According to the thread this is common to LCOS including the latest hot shot RS1.

A quote from the thread,... "If I turn on the projector in the morning it stays on all day even if I'm not watching it." <-A bulb saving notion.

People who buy Pearl's don't really strike me as the brightest bulbs in the pack anyway, that thread proves it. You would have to be pretty dim to buy a Sony product even more stupid to leave it on all day. Laughing
the RS1's output definitely drops and plateau's in the first 100 hours, whether it will "drastically dim" at 500 is something I haven't heard of? I douby many people have even put 500 on their new machines yet. We'll have to wait and see.
